Fans of the mind-bending thriller Severance know Britt Lower as Helly R, a character whose struggle against the dystopian Lumon Industries has made her one of television's most riveting leads. Yet before she got severed, Lower approached another style of surrealism in one of the best romantic comedy shows of the 2010s, if not ever: Man Seeking Woman.
Playing overachieving attorney Liz, sister to main character Josh Greenberg (Jay Baruchel), Lower demonstrated her on-the-nose comedic timing and range that would later make her a standout in Severance. She described the show to TV Insider this way: "This show is kind of like waking up inside of a dream, and you’re not sure if it’s going to be a fantasy dream or if it’s going to be a total nightmare, and oftentimes, it’s both." She also detailed her character in the show:

Exclusive: This is one of those “end of an era” executive departures. Andrew Singer is leaving Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video after more than 21 years. He most recently has served as President of Film & Television and Head of West Coast Operations, overseeing the company’s staff, development slate, and production deals with NBCUniversal and other studios.
Singer’s pending exit is still being negotiated, including his ongoing involvement as a producer in series he has shepherded, sources said.
“I’m grateful for the 21 years Andrew and I worked together and I’m sorry to see him go,” Michaels said in a statement to Deadline. “I know he’ll be successful in the next step in his career.”
Singer’s next career move is unclear, I hear it likely involves him launching a production company.

When news first broke that a "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" reboot would be coming to Prime Video, fans of the 2005 action romance flick were understandably skeptical. Do we really need a new version of this married spy story? Could any other version live up to the steaminess of the original, with its pretty A-list stars, snappy plot, and real-life love story unfolding behind the scenes?
As we learn more about the new "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," it turns out we needn't be worried: this version clearly isn't aiming to reboot the original. Billed as a "reimagining," the new saga is poised to make a lot of key changes to the familiar premise, stretching the plot to fit a TV show and rewriting the spies as newlyweds in an arranged marriage who are aware of one another's secret agent status from the start. The new "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" may not...

A decade ago now, the cable channel Fox Soccer switched to Fxx in 75 million households. The new television destination launched on September 2, 2013, offering a younger-skewing alternative to the flagship FX channel. As Variety reported at the time, FX Networks boss John Landgraf imagined a “suite” of general entertainment networks that wouldn’t fall into broadcast TV’s “all-things-to-all-people” problem: FX would focus on 18-to-49-year-olds, Fxx would appeal to 18-to-34-year-olds, and the movie-centric Fxm would attract 25-to-54-year-olds. To get those younger viewers, FX Networks moved It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League to Fxx in 2013, and several other series later followed suit. But other titles made their debut on Fxx, including Dave and Man Seeking Woman. Below, we’ve detailed those shows and other notable original programming from Fxx’s first 10 years. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Thanks to its Fxx run, this formerly-fx comedy has...

Hollywood icon and literal living legend Clint Eastwood turned 93 on Wednesday, marking yet another amazing milestone in a life full of them. And in honor of the “Unforgiven” director’s big day, fellow action star Arnold Schwarzenegger paid tribute in a short but nevertheless touching Instagram post.
“Happy birthday, Clint! You’ve inspired me, you’ve mentored me, and you’re a wonderful friend. At 93, you prove that heroes don’t retire – they reload. You’re a legend,” Schwarzenegger wrote in a message posted along with a recent but undated photo of the pair skiing.

After being a box office stable for decades, Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally coming to the world of television. Netflix has released the first trailer for “Fubar,” its upcoming action comedy about a CIA operative who joins his daughter for one final mission. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on the streaming service May 25.
The first few seconds of the “Fubar” trailer make it look like your typical Schwarzenegger movie. Luke (Schwarzenegger) is captured by a group of thugs who seem hellbent on making him pay. Seconds later, he breaks free and makes good on his promise to “kill all of you and then leave.” Back at the CIA, he’s surrounded by adoring co-workers who are happy to celebrate his impending retirement. But all of his happiness fades when Luke learns that his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) has followed in his footsteps to join this highly secretive and dangerous world.

Jonathan Krisel, the co-creator of the IFC series Portlandia, is in talks to direct the Pokémon Detective Pikachu sequel for Legendary Entertainment, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The 2019 original, directed by Rob Letterman, followed voice star Ryan Reynolds in the title role, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s Justice Smith co-starring as a young man named Tim who has given up on his dreams of becoming a Pokémon trainer. When his detective father goes missing, Tim meets Detective Pikachu and immediately has a special connection to the Pokémon, being the only person who can understand him. Together, the duo team up to solve the mystery of Tim’s missing father.
The original film was barely in theaters before Legendary began work on a sequel to its Pokémon-based movie, with Oren Uziel to pen the script. Now Chris Galletta is understood to be writing the screenplay for the sequel.

Nearly four years removed from the original, a "Detective Pikachu" sequel is finally moving forward at Warner Bros. Though it does seem like we're going to get a mostly new team behind the camera. As for in front of the camera? More on that in a moment. For now, what we know is that Jonathan Krisel, the co-creator of "Portlandia," is in negotiations to direct the sequel. This news comes courtesy of Deadline, who reveal that Chris Galletta ("The Kings of Summer") is also on board to pen the screenplay. So things seem to be moving along.
Rob Letterman ("Goosebumps") directed the first film, which finally brought the world of "Pokemon" into live-action. Rather than go with an Ash Ketchum-centric story, Warner Bros. opted to adapt the "Detective Pikachu" video game in a bit of a left-of-center move. It's also one that worked, as the film earned generally favorable reviews...

The robots won’t take over Hollywood if the WGA has anything to do with it.
One of the most interesting demands set out in the guild’s Pattern of Demands, which was unveiled earlier today, was the idea of regulating AI.
Or as the WGA put it, “Regulate use of material produced using artificial intelligence or similar technologies”.
A few years ago, it would have seemed crazy that AI would be able to replicate the work of TV and film writers. However, the rise of ChatGPT and other services, has shown that it might be closer than ever.
For instance, I asked ChatGPT if it had a pitch for a reboot of AMC’s Mad Men.
“Mad Men is back and better than ever. This time, the show takes place in the modern day, following a cast of characters as they navigate life in the cutthroat advertising industry of the 21st century.

Baymax gets his own animated series — the first Disney+ series from Disney’s feature animation unit — and it’s a far cry from his superhero antics in the “Big Hero 6” feature and previous animated spin-off series. “Baymax!” (streaming Wednesday) finds the affable, inflatable robot (voiced by Scott Adsit) returning to his original programming as a healthcare companion in San Fransokyo. In the six short episodes, he helps people with physical ailments while also getting them over emotional hurdles as well.

In search of a different perspective for “Baymax!,” the Oscar-winning director of “Big Hero 6,” “Moana,” and the upcoming “Strange World” reached back to television’s past. “I remembered back as a kid watching medical procedurals...
