When the Marvel Cinematic Universe was beginning to grow, their first avenue of entertainment outside the famous comics and the cinematic universe was television. While not a stranger to the small screen, the first show to premiere connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the underrated and much-beloved Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., led by a resurrected Agent Coulson, played by Clark Gregg. Two years later, Netflix would debut its first of several shows, starting with the much-anticipated devil of Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil. With an all-star cast, Charlie Cox as the vigilante and the great Vincent D'Onofrio as the imposing Kingpin, Daredevil quickly became a smash-hit Marvel show with fans. Not only was he a character fans had been desperate to see within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and beyond, but the fresh, dark tone of the show gave audiences a whole new story to fall in love with.

This may be a daring observation, but The Marvel Cinematic Universe is, on a philosophical level, kind of the opposite of "Star Trek." The MCU, after all, worships at the feet of a superpowered freelance military force who frequently gather together to commit acts of overwhelming combat violence. Superheroes live in a parallel world of moral absolutes, however, so we can rest assured that heroes are behaving heroically. Heroes use their access to miracle technologies to build more powerful weapons and upgrade their super-suits. They rarely try to improve medicine, undo capitalism, or reallocate resources; the MCU hasn't ever mentioned that world hunger is solved.
"Star Trek," meanwhile, takes place in a world of moral pluralism. There aren't "heroes" and "villains" in "Star Trek" in the traditional comic book sense (at least not when it's operating at peak efficiency), but merely people who have differing philosophical viewpoints. We constantly test our morals in "Star Trek,...

“When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die.” And if you’re a fan of HBO’s iconic fantasy series, you know just how true that was! With characters dropping like flies, the show introduced an unforgettable cast over its eight-season run. Premiering in 2011, Game of Thrones redefined television with its gripping storytelling, breathtaking battles, and jaw-dropping betrayals.
Back then, many of its stars were either rising newcomers—like Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner, and Maisie Williams—or established actors who found even greater fame, including Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, and Sean Bean.
Some, like Clarke and Harington, have kept the fantasy spirit alive with new projects, while Turner and Williams have explored bold, unconventional roles. Meanwhile, Dinklage continues to prove his versatility, and Headey has taken on exciting new challenges. Whether ruling new realms on-screen or making waves in Hollywood, the Game of Thrones...

Daredevil: Born Again‘s Michael Gandolfini is the bridge that oddly connects the world of The Man Without Fear and Tony Soprano. The connection between the two might be a little convoluted, but it is an interesting twist of faith nonetheless.

Soprano, was a part of 2003’s production of Daredevil, which was a film that starred Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck as Elektra and Daredevil respectively. Although the television medium has produced a variety of long-running series, not every show that graces TV screens can have long-term success. Television shows often suffer from weak writing, characterization or circumstances outside their control, reducing many series with major potential to a footnote in the pop culture zeitgeist.
That said, while there are plenty of subpar TV shows that remain exactly that from beginning to end, there are some series that, despite some rough spots, redeem themselves with surprisingly noteworthy endings. Whether their endings are great because they cleanly wrap up important narratives, result in major changes to a beloved character, or even set up the events of other related TV shows & films, these otherwise weak series are worthy of watching just for their finales.

"Welcome to the MCU. You're joining at a bit of a low point," says the Merc with the Mouth aka Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) in "Deadpool & Wolverine." He's not wrong. Most would agree the Marvel Cinematic Universe suffered a drop-off in quality in the aftermath of "Avengers: Endgame," with some of the franchise's Disney+ series, in particular, being met with immense criticism. Admittedly, some of that stemmed from a toxic fandom that just couldn't abide by, say, the visual of Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany) twerking with Megan Thee Stallion in "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law." However, the lowest rated MCU Disney+ show on Rotten Tomatoes is one that just about everyone agrees would be better forgotten.
Yep, despite having the star power of Samuel L. Jackson, Emilia Clarke, and British national treasure, Olivia Colman, "Secret Invasion" wound up becoming the worst-reviewed MCU series released thus far. (And before...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been around and going strong for nearly two decades now, and Marvel Studios has definitely enjoyed more hits than misses across its movie and TV slate. However, when it comes to the MCU, that’s not to say that every project has been a hit and stuck the landing.
The Eternals and Inhumans are two prime examples of ambitious ideas that didn’t quite resonate with audiences and weren’t exactly the slam dunks Marvel hoped they would be.
As brilliant as Eternals was, the film failed to captivate audiences in the way Marvel intended with many complaining about the film being too overly crowded and not the introduction of the characters not really making sense within the broader MCU stories. Meanwhile, Marvel’s Inhumans series landed with more of a whimper than a bang, falling short of expectations and being panned by fans and critics alike.

While Marvel Studios has only been releasing TV shows for the last few years, beginning with WandaVision premiering on Disney+ at the start of 2021, the studio has still had its hand in multiple TV projects dating back well into the 2010s. Working on that many projects for that long will ultimately lead to some hits and some misses, and new information has finally revealed which project has claimed the title of the lowest-rated Marvel TV show ever. Unshockingly to most who have seen it, Inhumans has officially been named the worst Marvel TV show of all time, flanked closely by Secret Invasion. Inhumans has an almost unbelievably low rating of 11% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 42% score from audiences, with Secret Invasion earning scores of 52% from critics and 48% from general audiences on the aggregate site.

I would love to see the Eternals and Inhumans return to the MCU, and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige's recent comments make me think this is very possible. Marvel Studios has delivered some huge updates in recent months, with Blade being indefinitely delayed, filming wrapping on The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Spider-Man 4's July 2026 release being confirmed. I am one of many who are very excited about the next few years of the MCU, especially after yet another tease hinting at the return of two major but underutilized superpowered species, the Eternals and the Inhumans.
The Inhumans certainly deserve redemption after the complete failure of Marvel Television's titular ABC series, 2017's Inhumans, and Black Bolt's appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness made me think this could finally happen. In recent years, I have been thrilled to see 2021's Eternals get more recognition and praise,...

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, in just over a decade, has blown up in terms of content thanks to its massive success and consistency in releasing many projects in a given year. While the franchise has undoubtedly had its ups and downs, there's no denying the strength of its staying power. But ever since the first film, the order of release and placement of films was never set in stone. For example, while Iron Man took place in 2008, Captain America: The First Avenger, the fifth film in the MCU, is set primarily in the 1940s. But things only got more messy with the inclusion of shows like Daredevil and The Punisher because most of them lasted 2 to 3 seasons and were set at different points in the franchise.

This article contains spoilers for "Agatha All Along."
Jac Schaeffer's 2024 TV series "Agatha All Along" stars Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, a wicked sorceress who serves as a nemesis to the Scarlet Witch. The show is a direct spinoff of 2021's "WandaVision," where the character was first introduced. The new series saw Agatha forming a new coven of witches so that they along with her new teenage sidekick Teen (Joe Locke) could face the trials of the Witches' Road, a mysterious process that grants its survivors any wish they want. Agatha lost her witch powers, so she very much would like to have them back. The series also featured Aubrey Plaza as the Rio Vidal aka Death (who was Agatha's ex-girlfriend), as well as living legend, Patti LuPone, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp.

At the event, it unveiled a lot of fun snippets of what's to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with an official trailer for Captain America: Brave New World and a teaser for Thunderbolts*, which will both premiere in the first half of 2025.
While 2024 had only one film on Marvel Studios' calendar Deadpool & Wolverine the future is busier for the superhero studio, with plenty of exciting titles for 2025, 2026, and even 2027. Even so, with so many new and returning productions, fans still have many questions about some projects. Speaking at Disney D23 Brasil (via CinePop), Kevin Feige addressed both the sequel to Eternals and whether a Blade film starring Mahershala Ali will happen.

While the MCU is currently riding a wave of positivity surrounding Agatha All Along, its lowest-rated shows still reveal a lot about the franchise. Marvel TV shows did not strictly fall into MCU canon until WandaVision hit the then-new Disney+ platform in 2021. At the time, WandaVision was a positive sign of things to come as it remains one of the highest-rated MCU shows to date. This prognosis has remained consistently vindicated for the most part, though a few stand-out outliers have broken Marvel Studios' winning streak in recent years.
Before the MCU started integrating Disney+ shows into its main fold, Marvel Television was leading the TV output on other streaming platforms. The canonicity of these Marvel shows has been a longstanding cause of confusion among Marvel fans until the shows produced on Netflix specifically were quietly integrated into the McU's official timeline on Disney Plus. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is set to bring back one of the biggest stars from the early TV side of things with Phil Coulson due to appear in What If...? season 3, but it raises questions about where the rest are. While Marvel Studios has recently gotten into the swing of things when it comes to producing its own TV shows, Marvel TV shows were being produced long before the MCU put its own official stamp on them. The popular Netflix Marvel shows built up a dedicated fanbase, while shows like The Runaways and Inhumans faded into obscurity.
However, one show that was intended to have specific crossovers, and in fact starred a former MCU star as its central hero, ended up being snubbed by the larger movie universe. The DC Universe has revealed that Krypto the Superdog will appear in the upcoming Superman, which has led to conversations around the character's comic book history and potential future. While the cast of DC League of Super-Pets humanized some of the popular DC pets, the comic books have featured these characters for many years in many different incarnations. Live-action comic book films, however, have had a more challenging time with introducing pets and using them effectively, making one addition to the Superman cast all the more noteworthy.
Dogs are one of the most beloved animals in the world, although only a handful have been explored in superhero cinema. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 introduced Cosmo, Hawkeye featured Lucky the Pizza Dog, and other instances of comic book movies and series' pets have cropped up at a somewhat rare rate, with the characters not being a great focus of their projects.

By the time Iron Fist was first released in 2017, Marvel Television had a string of hits on its hands. Daredevil had released its first season to so much applause that Marvel quickly rushed a second season into production. Krysten Ritter introduced Jessica Jones to the masses in a self-titled show, one that was one of Marvel's highest-rated releases. Before the Disney+ and Netflix era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television world, there was Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Following the wild success of The Avengers, this prime-time show followed the somehow resurrected Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) as he leads a new team to combat the strange and extraordinary threats of the world. A show lasting for seven seasons, it initially started out relatively small in scale, making sure it found ways to regularly tie into film canon. But as time went by, it seemed to veer off in its own wacky direction, taking on bigger plot points that incorporated comic tidbits. From Inhumans to Ghost Rider, to Life Model Decoys, to space and time travel - the show was at its best whenever it stayed in its own lane.

Anticipation for Marvel's Blade movie remains high, despite ongoing delays and uncertainty regarding its release date and production progress. Mahershala Ali's involvement as the lead actor in Blade has been consistent, but there have been numerous delays for the project. Marvel's focus on quality over quantity may lead to changes in upcoming projects, including Blade, which could impact its final form and release.
Marvel's new Blade movie was announced in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con during the Marvel Cinematic Universe panel - though the fate of the film may appear less clear years later. Everything known about Blade has fluctuated over the years, with Mahershala Ali's starring role being the only consistent feature. Deadpool & Wolverine helped the Marvel Cinematic Universe hit the $30 billion mark, while saying goodbye to the 20th Century Fox Marvel universe. The Avengers franchise was the main cause of Marvel's strength, however, as Marvel Studios dominated the box office for 15+ years. Kevin Feige announced the MCU milestone at Marvel Studios' San Diego Comic-Con panel, signaling continued success.
With the help of Deadpool & Wolverine, the Marvel Cinematic Universe just crossed another crucial milestone. While Deadpool 3 is ushering in new franchises, including the upcoming X-Men movie and Fantastic Four, the Avengers franchise is still offering some support at the box office. Collectively, the MCU has dominated the box office for over 15 years, and the overall strength of Marvel Studios has only continued to rise. At the Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige offered stunning insight into an excellent piece of financial news for the studio.

Warning: Spoilers lie ahead for The Boys season 4 finale!
Ashley's transformation in The Boys season 4 hints at new superpowers in season 5, possibly inspired by Marvel's Inhumans. Star Colby Minifie is not currently aware of what powers Ashley will get, but thinks they should be "humiliating" for her character. Ashley's abilities may be taken away easily, mirroring Inhumans, offering a chance for satire in the upcoming season.
The Boys star Colby Minifie has weighed in on what superpowers Ashley might receive in season 5. During the season 4 finale, Homelander had tasked the remaining members of The Seven to eliminate any Vought employees who had any potentially incriminating information against them. However, Vought CEO Ashley Barrett overheard those orders and sought to protect herself by injecting herself with Compound-v. While Ashleys reaction to the compound appeared extraordinarily painful, it is not clear what superpowers she may potentially receive as a result in The Boys season 5.

2024 sees Legion stars Aubrey Plaza and Hamish Linklater in prominent superhero show roles. This offers Plaza and Linklater the chance to showcase their talents in more mainstream projects. The return of these Legion actors may open doors for other cast members to appear in the MCU.
Marvel's TV efforts have been hit or miss for some time, but one of the most underrated shows, Legion, will finally get some attention in 2024 thanks to some returning stars. Marvel Studios' Blade recently lost a second director in Yann Demange, prompting a fresh round of speculation about why Kevin Feige and company simply can't get this long-awaited movie - first announced in 2019 - into theaters.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, both sides are to have grown frustrated with Blade's prolonged development process, with the Daywalker himself, Mahershala Ali, said to be "increasingly frustrated" with the situation.
The trade explains that he handpicked Demange after Bassam Tariq walked away from Blade in September 2022. At the time, the movie had been in pre-production and was gearing up to start shooting two months later.
Marvel Studios decided Tariq wasn't a good fit and, after presenting Ali with a list of possible directors, executives were surprised when the Oscar-winner "conducted his own search after having concerns that the list largely featured filmmakers who were untested at the big studio level."

Despite PG-13 ratings, MCU features brutal deaths hinting at R-Rated future. Netflix series being canonized makes for a bloodier MCU. Horror-themed movies push gore levels to new extremes.
Despite consisting of mostly PG-13 movies, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has gotten away with some truly grotesque character deaths over the years. The upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine will be the series' first true R-Rated film, but that doesn't mean the MCU hasn't featured a few brutal death scenes over the years that have truly pushed the limits of their usual mass appeal ratings. On top of that, the canonization of the Netflix shows has made the MCU a much bloodier place.
Before being bought by Disney, Marvel Studios were much more apt to feature a few eyebrow-raising villain deaths before largely being sanitized by Disney's corporate leadership. However, in recent years, the advent of Disney+ projects like Moon Knight and Werewolf By Night...

While Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness didn't include as many surprises as some fans had hoped for, one of the biggest saw Anson Mount reprise his Inhumans role as Black Bolt.
Decked out in a comic-accurate costume, we finally saw the extent of his powers when his voice reduced Earth-838's Doctor Strange to little more than a pile of dust. However, after he crossed paths with Earth-616's Scarlet Witch, his head was blown up from the inside out.
Whether we'll see more of the Inhumans in the MCU remains to be seen. Former Marvel Entertainment Chairman Isaac Perlmutter tried to force Kevin Feige into making a movie featuring the characters and, when he refused, we ended up with the disastrous Marvel Television series.

"Spider-Man: Far from Home," released in July of 2019, was the 23rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and served as a victory lap for the franchise following the release of "Avengers: Endgame" -- one of the biggest films of all time -- the previous May. That was 23 films in 11 years, released at a pretty steady -- but mostly tolerable -- clip. From 2008 to 2016, Marvel Studios released two films every year. From 2017 to 2019, it upped its output to three a year. The frantic release schedule, paired with carefully curated press releases, whipped fans into a frenzy of eternal anticipation. In 2019, it seemed like the MCU would never end.

The McU's new Marvel Television banner can learn some valuable lessons from mistakes in the previous Marvel Television's projects. The old Marvel Television shied away from comic-accurate costumes, reversed major MCU events, and wasted many brilliant minor characters. Mistakes from Marvel Television's past negatively impacted the MCU, so this should be avoided in the future.
Mistakes in Marvel Television's previous TV shows, released adjacent to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, can teach the new Marvel Television some valuable lessons. Long before Marvel Studios began producing its own TV shows for Disney+, Marvel Entertainment entrusted Marvel Television with developing series for various networks that expanded the world of the MCU significantly. In recent years, doubt has been cast on whether Marvel Television's previous projects are considered canon to the McU's main continuity, and this dispute has been exacerbated by the recent revival of the Marvel Television banner, which will now develop shows specifically set in the MCU.

Marvel Animation's X-Men '97 season 2 could solve one of Marvel Television's biggest blunders, according to a wild new theory. X-Men '97 season 1 concluded on May 15, 2024, with an epic three-part finale that pitted the X-Men team against their former leader, Magneto, and the human-Sentinel hybrid Bastion. X-Men '97 has tapped into niche comic arcs that elevate the overall story. As a result, X-Men '97 has continued to impress longtime fans and bring in new ones. For the larger MCU, many aspects of X-Men '97 could further expand the movies and TV shows by following its lead.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has entered a new era. Teams like the Fantastic Four are set to debut, and with Marvel Animation launching shows like What If..? and X-Men '97, this is certainly a period of experimentation for the studio. X-Men '97 is of particular interest as, despite living within the wider Marvel Cinematic Multiverse, it is still a complete oddity. In fact, the animated series breaks all the rules of the MCU and works in direct paradox to what has happened in the franchise thus far. Audiences are clearly keen on this style of storytelling, though.
