How Did “Nepo Baby” Patrick Schwarzenegger Get His 1st Role in Hollywood, Was It Because of Arnold?
Image
Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Hollywood journey began quite early with a modest role at only 10 years old, playing “Sports Kid Number 3” in the 2006 film The Benchwarmers. Despite being the son of a legendary actor and former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver, Patrick’s introduction to Hollywood wasn’t a direct result of his father’s reputation.

It was Patrick’s own interests and initiative that led him to this early role. Throughout his childhood, he accompanied his father to movie sets, sparking his fascination with the industry. He pursued acting earnestly, got a degree in Business with a minor in cinematic arts at the University of Southern California. It was Patrick’s commitment to honing his craft that drove his initial foray into acting.

Like Father, Like Son: Arnold and Patrick Schwarzenegger on Nepo Babies, Nude Scenes and ‘Becoming the Greatest Star of All Time’
Image
The rise of one of this season’s greatest scene-stealers makes for a challenging conundrum — how far does the apple fall from the tree? Patrick Schwarzenegger, of “The Staircase” and “Scream Queens,” takes a very different approach to his craft than his father. Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is on TV screens this year in “Fubar” and as a voice role in “Secret Level” — but, of course, he’s best known for blockbusters like “True Lies,” “Twins,” and “Terminator.”

Patrick, on the other hand, has leaned into the character actor within the hunk; this season, he portrayed Saxon Ratliff, a raunchy-then-heartbroken golden boy in Mike White’s “The White Lotus.” It’s not exactly an Arnold part. But Patrick’s work ethic and his eagerness to talk about what fuels his drive to succeed is all Schwarzenegger.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: A year ago, Variety would’ve never asked us to sit here and have this discussion.

Why MTV Canceled Bo Burnham's Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

As far as musical comedians who rose to prominence in the internet era go, it's tough to find one more beloved than Bo Burnham. More than just a guy who can craft a funny, catchy tune, he has asserted himself as a downright brilliant creative (in addition to being a hilarious one). Unfortunately, one of his first creative endeavors in Hollywood after rising to stardom on YouTube, an MTV show titled "Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous," had a very short life, premiering in 2013 and lasting just one season on the network.

The series centered on Zach Stone (Burnham), a young man who, after graduating high school, decides to skip going to college and instead attempt to become famous with no talent whatsoever, by any means necessary. Burnham, despite being in his early 20s at the time, not only headlined the show,...

Ariana Grande’s First Post-Wicked Movie Is A Comedy Franchise’s First Movie In 16 Years, Release Date Reportedly Revealed
Image
Ariana Grande has reportedly found her first post-Wicked role. Although the multi-talented performer first got her start as an actor in television series including Victorious, Sam & Kat, and Scream Queens, she appeared in very few film or television projects from the mid-2010s through the early 2020s, due to her meteoric rise as a pop star with hit singles such as "The Way," "Thank U, Next," and "Bang Bang." However, she returned to acting with her Oscar-nominated performance as Glinda in the 2024 Broadway musical adaptation Wicked, which will be followed by the upcoming Wicked: For Good on November 21.

Deadline reports that Ariana Grande is set to reteam with Universal by boarding the new Meet the Parents movie. She joins a cast that already includes original stars Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Blythe Danner, and Teri Polo. The project, which will be the fourth feature-length installment in the franchise, is being...

Glen Powell Comedy 'Chad Powers' Premiere Date Announced
Image
Hold on to your football metaphors, folks, because Glen Powell's latest sports comedy is going to need them for its premiere date announcement. Appearing in his first on-screen TV role since appearing in Ryan Murphy's cult camp classic Scream Queens, Powell is set to play the titular Powers in the comedy series from the actor and his co-creator, Michael Waldron. But did you also know that we have Eli Manning to thank for this particular series?

That's right, the prolific footballer is the reason Chad Powers exists at all, as the comedy series is based on a character from an old 2022 ESPN+ sketch by Eli and Peyton Manning. Of course, it feels safe to assume that Powell and...

The NCIS Character Glen Powell Played Before His Rise To Fame
Image
At this point, Glen Powell feels like he's been famous forever thanks to a series of high-profile projects (that also happened to be major financial successes), but this native Texan only broke into the mainstream towards the end of the 2010s. So what was he doing before that? As a young actor trying to make it big in Hollywood, Powell showed up in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over" alongside Selena Gomez, in a tiny, blink-and-you'll-miss-it role in "The Dark Knight Rises" — which consists entirely of Tom Hardy's supervillain Bane slamming a young Powell's head into a computer keyboard — and, as it turns out, he also appeared on "NCIS."

In the procedural's 10th season, Powell plays Marine Corps Sergeant Evan Westcott in the two-part episode "Shell Shock," whose older brother, Captain Joe Westcott (Brad Beyer), watched as his friend was attacked (and may or may not have been personally involved...

12 Best Glen Powell Movies & TV Shows, Ranked
Image
Although Glen Powell has been acting for decades, it's really only over the past few years that he's become a Hollywood star. His screen presence and considerable charm have made him a popular figure in multiple different genres, from action romps to romantic comedies. Powell comes across as the thinking man's cowboy, with humor and intelligence hidden behind his brash all-American exterior.

By 2025, Powell had fully arrived as the next big thing, taking home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his charming work in "Hit Man." If that wasn't enough of a recommendation, Tom Cruise himself saw something special in the actor, creating the role of Hangman specifically for Powell in "Top Gun: Maverick." He's an actor whose best days are very much ahead of him, and we're excited to see what he does in the future. But for now, let's look back on his past,...

Glen Powell to Star, Co-Write Judd Apatow Country-Western Comedy
Image
Glen Powell's star power continues to be on the rise, as the actor is teaming up with comedy icon Judd Apatow for the acclaimed writer/director's new film. Despite acting in titles like Everybody Wants Some and Scream Queens for years, Glen Powell has experienced a surge in wider popularity of late thanks to roles in movies like Top Gun: Maverick, Anyone but You, Hit Man, and Twisters. Powell is already quite busy, with roles in Edgar Wright's remake of The Running Man, the Hulu series Chad Powers, and the thriller Huntington, but it doesn't look like he plans on slowing down anytime soon.

Variety reports that Universal Pictures is fast-tracking an original comedy about a country-western star in free fall from Judd Apatow and Glenn Powell, with both serving as co-writers of the script. Apatow is also set to direct the film, while Powell will star in the movie.

Shudder Sets ‘Guts & Glory’ Horror Competition Series Described as ‘Survivor’ Meets ‘The Blair Witch Project’
Image
If there’s one man who knows about both guts and glory, it’s Greg Nicotero. He’s cemented himself as a horror legend with “The Walking Dead,” which means his new reality show “Guts & Glory” coming to Shudder later this year should be a scary good time.

The 6-episode series greenlit on Monday promises to flip the script on the traditional competition show by “thrusting players into an immersive horror experience full of unexpected challenges” and special make-up effects.

“I couldn’t be more excited with this opportunity to explore this new landscape. To marry a non-scripted competition show with a genre narrative lands along the lines of if ‘Survivor’ and ‘The Blair Witch Project’ had a baby,” Nicotero teased. “It’s one of the most creative and organic things I’ve ever done, creating FX that have to happen live in real time and capturing the honest reactions…...

4 Ryan Murphy shows to watch and 3 to definitely skip
Image
As you start to look through the list of Ryan Murphy shows, you’ll find that there are way more than you initially thought. He’s the man behind Glee, Scream Queens, American Horror Story, and so much more. There’s simply no way that you can watch everything in a short space of time, and there are some shows just not as good as others.

How do you know if something is worth watching or skipping, though? After all, something can seem great from the premise, but then you get into two episodes and realize that it’s just not what was promised. The good news is I’ve watched the majority of his shows now, and I can tell you the ones that just don’t quite hit the mark. I have the four that you definitely want to watch, and the three that are just worth skipping.

‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Poster Released, Film Stars ‘General Hospital’ Alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez
Earlier this week, Sony Pictures released a new poster for “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which stars “General Hospital” alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez (ex-Spencer Cassadine) and sees Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt (“9-1-1”) reprising their roles from the iconic film of the same name which set off the franchise in 1997.

Like the first film, the new iteration sees five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident. To cover up their involvement, they make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them, and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: Someone knows what they did last summer and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to the two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

The Forgotten Horror Movie Reality Show Hosted By James Gunn
Image
Back in 2008 -- when torture movies were still riding high -- VH1 had a brilliant idea. Well, they had a "brilliant" idea. Tapping into the successes of both the "Saw" movies and reality shows like "America's Next Top Model," the network produced "Scream Queens," a competition show that gathered together 10 hopeful actresses and had them undergo a series of auditions and acting challenges, arranged in an elimination tourney structure, with each getting help from professional acting coach John Homa. The grand prize would be a small role in "Saw VI."

It might come as a surprise to you that this series was directed by James Gunn, who also served as one of the show's main judges. He was joined on the judge's panel by Shawnee Smith, who played the role of Amanda Young in "Saw," "Saw II," "Saw III," "Saw VI," and "Saw X." This was at a time when...

Not long after making her acting debut alongside Keke Palmer for Lawrence Lamont’s buddy comedy One of Them Days, musical artist and actress Sza wants to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During an interview with Jennifer Hudson on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Sza told the talk show host and Dreamgirls actress she wants to play Ororo Monroe, aka Storm, for the MCU.

Sza is currently making waves as a Grammy-winning artist with multiple talents. Jamie Lee Curtis Says She Is ‘Not Who You Think I Am’ and Has Been Working to Show That in Her Recent Work
Image
One of the original “Scream Queens,” as well as a legitimate sex symbol through much of the 1980s and ’90s, Jamie Lee Curtis had managed to fit in one box or another throughout most of her career, a fact made all the more clear when one learns she was born into Hollywood royalty as the daughter of screen legends Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis. However, as Curtis turned the corner on 60 a few years back, she realized she needed to stop meeting everyone else’s expectations and go after the kind of work that truly fed her creativity.

“I blew up the mood boards because I’m not who you think I am,” Curtis said in a recent interview with Empire. “That’s probably the biggest crux of it: I’m not who you think I am. Let me show you. I am way more than you think I am.

Keke Palmer Didn’t Learn Her SAG Awards Dress Was Worn By Jamie Lee Curtis in 1986 Until She Read About It Online: ‘I Had No Idea’
Image
Keke Palmer insists she had no idea that the vintage Chanel dress she wore to the SAG Awards on Sunday was once worn by her “Scream Queens” co-star Jamie Lee Curtis.

Curtis wore the black and gold gown in 1986 to the first American Cinematheque Award Gala, which honored Eddie Murphy.

“All I knew was that it was a dress I had to wear and the fact that Jamie also wore was incredible because that’s my girl. We did ‘Scream Queens’ together. When my son was born, she sent me all these books.”

Curtis reached out to Palmer on Sunday. “She sent me a text message saying,...

Patrick Schwarzenegger Responds To Being Labeled ‘A Nepo Baby’ After Landing Lead In ‘The White Lotus’

Carrie Fisher: “I didn’t even like coke that much” but I Still Did Drugs on the Set of One Star Wars Movie Since I Was Desperate to Get High

Carrie Fisher’s off-screen journey was as intense as her Star Wars fame. While playing Princess Leia made her a legend, she later revealed a surprising detail from the set of one Star Wars movie – she used drugs, not out of love for them, but out of desperation to get high.

9 Years Later, This American Horror Story Season Isn't as Bad as You Remember

Quick LinksAmerican Horror Story’s Sixth Season Changed the GameRoanoke Was Controversial Upon ReleaseI’m Sorry, But Roanoke is Actually Fantastic

People always talk about how they would give anything to go back in time and experience something for the first time again. I often say that I would sell an organ to feel the serotonin and dopamine boosts I’ve felt while doing specific things for the first time. Most people who long for time travel abilities easily remember what they want to go back in time for, but I am not one of those people. My memory is horrible, so I rarely remember anything, let alone random first experiences. Even when I do remember them, I rarely remember the feelings attached. That said, I distinctly remember discovering American Horror Story and how it made me feel.

I was in fifth grade around 2014, and as I’ve always been a weird introvert,...

Demi Moore at an event for Another Happy Day (2011)
In addition to Demi Moore taking home a statue for her performance in The Substance, the Screen Actors Guild Awards also celebrated horror in an unexpected way last night.

The video package put the spotlight on classics including Scream, Halloween, Psycho, and A Nightmare on Elm Street, but it also featured clips from deeper cuts including Night of the Demons, Leprechaun, and even Chopping Mall. Other films featured include Poltergeist, Immaculate, Carrie, Friday the 13th, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Next Generation.

The 2025 SAG Awards Put Community First, the Congratulations Second
Image
It’s always refreshing when a show learns from its own mistakes. While 2024’s SAG Awards ceremony was a mishmash of tonally dissonant scripting and segments in the show’s first year on Netflix, 2025’s SAG Awards showed a marked improvement rooted in what makes the Screen Actors Guild tick.

The ceremony opened with a pre-taped segment featuring “Hacks” — basically bonus “Hacks” for everyone missing the show since its spring 2024 premiere. Right away this worked better than the kind of opening that arbitrarily forces film and TV crossovers, instead focusing on a show that is about the industry, and a character with a successful performance career, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart).

Like the rest of Hollywood’s awards season since the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards carried the emotional weight of January’s Los Angeles wildfires, from videos dedicated to L.A. on film and the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s aid for members in need,...

Image
James Gunn hasn't announced plans yet for The Flash in the DC Universe. However, that hasn't stopped fans from imagining certain actors in the role of the Scarlet Speedster, such as Twisters star Glen Powell.

After breaking out in 2022 with a supporting role in Top Gun: Maverick, Powell quickly became a favorite within the fan-casting community, with fans picturing him as everyone from DC superheroes Green Lantern and Batman to Marvel heavy hitters like Nova and Cyclops. However, the Barry Allen version of The Flash is possibly the superhero that fans want to see Powell play on the big screen the most, with fellow DC hero Booster Gold — who is confirmed to be getting his...

10 Underrated Horror Series That Were Cancelled After a Single Season
Image
Too often, great TV shows -- particularly horror shows -- are gone before they even have a chance to shine. It's often one of the most frustrating things about being a fan. A series will come along with a fresh perspective, compelling characters, and just enough scares to keep you hooked, only for the network to pull the plug after just one season, with either storylines and mysteries left unresolved or the potential for more standalone stories cut short. Horror shows do seem to be particularly vulnerable to this phenomenon, often getting the axe before they can sink their teeth into a loyal audience.

Many horror series were, in fact, canceled after just a single season, despite having the potential to become cult classics. These series may not have had the longest runs, but their creativity, ambition, and ability to unsettle viewers left an unforgettable impression. From grindhouse-inspired gorefests to cerebral nightmares,...

This Is Jenna Ortega’s Best Movie Role to Date and I’m Not Hearing Any Objections
Image
Jenna Ortega has become one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood after she revived everyone's favorite dark and macabre girl, Wednesday Addams, on Netflix's hit series, Wednesday. Ortega got her start at just nine years old in Disney's Stuck in the Middle and began to flourish in the horror genre with a small part in Insidious: Chapter 2, before launching herself into more poignant roles in Scream and X. It was with these films that she landed herself the title of one of this generation's best Scream Queens. It's an important story about dealing with emotional trauma—a weighty subject that coins The Fallout as Ortega's true breakout role.

Jamie Lee Curtis Hilariously Recreates Her Iconic '80s Scene From John Travolta Movie
Image
Jamie Lee Curtis has revisted her aerobics routine from the 1985 film Perfect. The iconic movie moment saw her play Jessie, a fitness instructor who becomes involved with Los Angeles reporter Adam, portrayed by John Travolta, when he sets out to write a story about gym culture. The movie, written and directed by James Bridges, became infamous for its high-energy aerobics scenes, which captured the fitness craze of the '80s.

Curtis appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to recreate her character's iconic aerobics scene, complete with exaggerated movements. Her routine took on a new humorous perspective with the added bonus of comedic gags, such as a pizza delivery, a surgery, and a champagne tower pour. Fallon took Travolta's place in this revived take, adding to the silliness of the parody. Check out the video below:

Review: Goosebumps: The Vanishing’s First Episodes Plant the Seeds for an Interesting Season
Image
Prolific author R.L. Stine scared a generation of children into loving the horror genre with his “Goosebumps” book series. In the years since he released his first young adult novel in the early 1990s and became a staple of Scholastic Book Fairs, that initial audience has grown to have kids of their own to share the spooky stories with. And not only has the franchise expanded to include an impressive collection of thrilling literary tales, but there are also films and TV shows that are bringing the brand to all-new audiences.

In late 2023, Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller brought their version of “Goosebumps” to life on Disney+ and Hulu. The series starring Justin Long and an excellent ensemble of young stars modernized fan-favorite stories like “Night of the Living Dummy,” “The Haunted Mask,” and “Welcome to Horrorland” by targeting a slightly older audience than the original books and not shying...

Glen Powell's Scream Queens Character Explained — How He Proved Himself A Star Long Before Top Gun
Image
Hot off the success of American Horror Story and Glee, the twisted minds of TV producers Brad Falchuk, Ryan Murphy, and Ian Brennan birthed a unique creation with the Fox series, Scream Queens, which featured a then mostly unknown Glen Powell. A mix of horror and black comedy with a dash of campy satire, Scream Queens ran for two seasons from 2015- 2016. It starred Emma Roberts as Chanel Oberlin, the It-girl of Wallace University and head of the campus’ biggest sorority, Kappa Kappa Tau. Also featured were Billie Lourd, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin, Nick Jonas, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Roberts may have dazzled as Chanel, but Glen Powell was arguably an even bigger scene-stealer. Powell made his acting debut in 2003's Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. From there, he continued to act steadily, notably playing astronaut John Glen in 2015's Hidden Figures. However, it was Powell's role as Hangman in...
