Exclusive: Ten-year Artists First vet Itay Reiss has been named one of the firm’s partners.

Born in Israel and raised in Los Angeles, Emmy Award-winning producer Reiss began his career at United Talent Agency in 1998 and joined Artists First in 2015.

He recently produced the 20th Century Studios feature Quiz Lady starring Awkwafina, Will Ferrell, and Sandra Oh which won the Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie.

He also executive produced Comedy Central’s hit show Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens and produced the hit feature film Like a Boss starring Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, and Salma Hayek. Reiss additionally executive-produced the Netflix drama series Hit and Run from the creators of Fauda, Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, along with Netflix animated comedy series Hoops with partners Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Since transitioning into management and production, Reiss has also worked on a number of hit comedy shows and specials.

Exclusive: Aud Mason-Hyde, one of the breakouts of this year’s Sundance Film Festival, has signed with Artists First for management.

A queer trans nonbinary actor from Australia, Mason-Hyde stars opposite Olivia Colman and John Lithgow in Jimpa, a semi-autobiographical family drama from returning Sundance filmmaker Sophie Hyde. The film follows filmmaker and mother Hannah (Colman) as she takes her nonbinary teenager Frances (Mason-Hyde) on a trip to Amsterdam to visit their beloved gay grandpa Jim, aka “Jim-pa” (Lithgow).

In his review of the film out of Sundance, Deadline’s Pete Hammond called Mason-Hyde “perfectly cast.”

Exclusive: Ashley Harrison has joined Artists First as a Manager, Deadline has learned.

Harrison was most recently at Motion Picture Talent Agent at CAA, working out of the agency’s Los Angeles office. During her time there, she worked on behalf of many of the world’s leading production companies, producers, and talent, including Taraji P. Henson, Andra Day, Octavia Spencer, Tiffany Boone, Tati Gabrielle, Babs Olusanmokun, Fantasia, Melina Matsoukas, Reggie Hudlin, Deniese Davis, The Obamas’ Higher Ground, State Street Productions and Jesse Collins Entertainment.

Harrison joined CAA in 2019 after being tapped to lead the Business Affairs team at FoxNext Games. She began her career as an Intellectual Property and Complex Business Litigation Consultant at StoneTurn Group in 2011. She graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Economics, Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business with an Mba, and Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law with a Juris Doctor.

The latest film in the “Transformers” franchise – “Transformers One” – is finally in theaters, and this time it’s animated. The new film from director Josh Cooley serves as a prequel to the entire universe and chronicles the early days of Optimus and Megatron’s friendship. Here the official logline:

“The untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever.”

Hemsworth is most known for playing Thor in a number of Marvel projects including “Thor,” “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Avengers: Endgame.” He’s also recently starred in “Mad Max: Furiosa” and “Extraction.

Lil Rel Howery is set to make his directorial debut and star in the horror comedy Haunted Heist, which will co-star Tiffany Haddish. The film was written by Carl Reid, who co-wrote the script for Hulu's 2024 release Mr. Crocket, a horror movie about a sinister children's television show host. French distribution outfit The Coven, which recently enjoyed big success with Terrifier 3, will distribute Haunted Heist.

The plot, according to Deadline, is as follows:

...four estranged friends reunite at what appears to be a typical house. But one friend has ulterior motives; he plans to rob the place and needs their help to find an antique worth a fortune. But the house is straight up haunted, and the group must squash their differences to survive the night and an insane pack of ghosts.

While the entire premise sounds promising, the phrase "insane pack of ghosts" will certainly pique the interest of the horror community.

Will Ferrell is hitting the streets for a new comedy feature from 20th Century Studios.

The performer is attached to produce and star in Street Justice for director Peter Atencio. Dave Callaham is writing the script for the project that will center on a character who decides to deliver his own brand of justice.

Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum of Gloria Sanchez serve as producers alongside David Koplan. Callaham is an executive producer.

Atencio has helmed the features Keanu (2016) and The Machine (2023) and is known for television work on such projects as Key & Peele, The Last Man on Earth and The Afterparty.

Ferrell and fellow Saturday Night Live alum Harper Steele were featured in this year’s Netflix documentary film Will & Harper. Other recent movie credits for Ferrell include Quiz Lady, Barbie and Spirited, along with voice roles in Strays and Despicable Me 4.

Emmy-award winning writer duo and former housemates Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele aren’t as close as they once were, Key told People in an interview published Sunday. He explained, “We don’t see each other that often anymore,” before he added, “Which is, to me, a tragedy.”

Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele spent several years working together on sketch comedy, but their lives and careers have since ventured into different directions. For Key, it feels tragic that he no longer sees Peele as much as he did back when Key & Peele was on the air.

Two decades ago, Key and Peele became fast friends when they co-starred on the Saturday Night Live competitor MADtv. They'd later team up to launch their own sketch comedy show on Comedy Central, Key & Peele, which was on the air from 2012 to 2015. Based loosely on the DC Comics/Vertigo Comics series Hellblazer, Constantine starred Keanu Reeves as the titular paranormal investigator and occultist. Jordan Peele wasn't always one of the greatest horror filmmakers in the world. First he was a prolific comedian, starring in five seasons of the late-night sketch comedy series "Mad TV," impersonating celebrities left and right. Then he created his own show with his fellow "Mad TV" alumni Keegan-Michael Key, appropriately titled "Key & Peele," and that show was a major comedy hit that's still actively memed to this day.

It made sense that, when Jordan Peele moved into the realm of movies, his first project was the phenomenally funny buddy comedy "Keanu." Peele co-wrote the screenplay and starred opposite Key as mild-mannered friends who have to step outside their comfort zone and into the world of violent crime in order to rescue their kidnapped, adorable kitten. Peele may not have directed it, but it's a delight, and established Peele as a force to be reckoned with in motion picture comedies as well as TV.

Tiffany Haddish is still haunted by how she was treated on her first film.

The “Girl’s Trip” breakout star and recent “Haunted Mansion” actress told the Associated Press in the below video that she was never paid for her film debut, despite being told her salary would be $1,200. Haddish was also homeless at the time.

“My very first movie I ever did that I was the star in, I was homeless while I was shooting that movie,” Haddish said. “They were supposed to pay me $1,200 to do the movie. I wasn’t in the union. It was non-union film so there was nothing I could do about it. They never paid me. They never paid me a dime.”

She continued, “The producers gave me 10 DVDs and said, ‘Sell those. Good luck.’ I never saw the movie.”

While Haddish did not name the film, her first credited role was in 2005’s “The Urban Demographic.

Tiffany Haddish revealed in a video interview with the Associated Press that she did not earn a penny from her first movie, even after it started airing on network television and various streaming platforms following the success of “Girls Trip.” The 2017 comedy, co-starring Regina Hall, Queen Latifah and Jada Pinkett Smith, served as Haddish’s industry breakout. She earned rave reviews and won the supporting actress prize from the New York Film Critics circle, all of which created heightened interest in the work she shot prior.

Haddish was talking to the AP about Hollywood’s changing financial systems amid the SAG-AFTRA strike. She revealed that before “Girls Trip,” she starred in a non-union film and was promised she’d be paid $1,200 dollars. She never made a cent.

Keanu is easily one of the best comedies ever made, given its consistent delivery of laughter from beginning to end without fail.

It’s a new month, and Hulu subscribers are getting a slew of new movies and TV shows to enjoy.

June 1 is jam-packed with more than 30 titles that have landed on the streamer, including the seventh and final season of Ava DuVernay’s “Queen Sugar,” the Jack Nicholson-led film “Hoffa,” Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” and the entire “Twilight” franchise.

Mixing in a little of the old with new come goodies from 2023, like “Flamin’ Hot,” which tells the story of Mexican migrant Richard Montanez who came up with the idea for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos while working as a janitor at Frito Lay. The film lands on Hulu June 9.

Ending June with a bang will the be second season of “The Bear,” (June 22), Season 20 of “The Bachelorette” (June 27) and the sixth and final season of “Grown-ish.”

The cast of Wonka is filled with recognizable actors and popular comedians who bring Roald Dahl's iconic characters to life in fresh and original ways. Wonka is a musical about the origins of its title character, an eccentric businessman known for creating sweet treats and creatively punishing spoiled children. Plot: Set 23 years after the original story which inspired it, The Machine finds Bert Kreischer facing familial crisis and the arrival of his estranged father when the ghost of his booze-soaked past arrives: a murderous mobster hellbent on kidnapping Bert back to the motherland to atone for his crimes. Together, he and his father must retrace the steps of his younger self in the midst of a war between a sociopathic crime family while they attempt to find common ground.

Review: This weekend boasts two theatrical films featuring stand-up comedians with dedicated fanbases in stories about their relationship with their father. Both Sebastian Maniscalco and Bert Kreischer have performed elements of the stories at the core of their big-screen adventures, but the results could not be further apart. Season 2 of last summer’s hit breakout series “The Bear” is set to premiere on Hulu on Thursday, June 22. After a tumultuous return to his family’s hole-in-the-wall Chicago restaurant, chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and his staff transform the greasy sandwich joint into a first-class dining experience after he discovers the slush fund his brother left behind. Despite having the extra money to make his dreams a reality, the future proves to be both a personal and professional challenge for Carmy and the crew.

It’s 25 years later and the men and women of Sheffield, England, are in reboot mode, navigating life and family. The original 1997 movie focused on a group of down-on-their-luck, blue-collar men who put on a strip show to make ends meet.

Legendary Pictures has announced a new road trip film called “Animal Friends” that will star Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Vince Vaughn and Aubrey Plaza in an ensemble cast directed by “Keanu” filmmaker Peter Atencio.

Plot details have not been divulged but the project is said to feature live-action and animated characters in an R-rated comedy. Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider, who wrote the Netflix thriller-comedy “The Package,” will handle the script.

Legendary will produce the film alongside Reynolds’ production company Maximum Effort and Prime Focus Studios.

Not much is known about Animal Friends, only that it will be a live-action/animated hybrid which is being described as “an R-rated road trip adventure.” As to who Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, and Vince Vaughn will be playing in Animal Friends, your guess is as good as mine at this point. But they’re all very funny folks, so we should be in for a good time.
