Granite Rapids moon is a wonderful movie drama shot mostly in the Grand Canyon National Park. It will inspire you to at least see the park if not hike it. The cinematography is amazing. I especially loved the night sky scenes with all the stars and even some shooting stars. The actor/ director John Charles Meyer was fantastic and the plot was really good. John did a Q & A after the showing which we also loved. If you want to see a good movie with beautiful scenery you ask r want to miss this when it comes to your area. They are doing one nights screenings in various locations in 2025. Don't miss it.
Being a member of TATC for 20 years, this movie was one of the best ones about hiking that I have seen in many year of movie going. With the amount of crew, actors, technician they had to make this movie, they all did a wonderful job. The scenes of the Grand Canyon was so beautiful and they show all of the important places there in the canyon, I really enjoyed the whole movie, and didn't go to sleep for the whole movie, which at 78years old is saying a lot. I would paid to see it again when it comes out and be in our area, that's how wonderful it was. At first I was not going to see it with our Trail Club, but I am so glad I did, it is one of the best movie that has come out in years.
This is an engaging movie, the storyline unfolds throughout with dramatic twists. It involves the effort of the main character to fulfill a goal he set much earlier in his life. The drama builds as he encounters hurdles along the way, both physical and emotional. The story is set and filmed primarily in the Grand Canyon, the scenery is spectacular and expertly filmed. I've visited the canyon from the rim but this story took me places I never saw. I did not anticipate the ending, but everything fell into place. The final scene helped explain the beginning. Highly, highly recommended, an absolute gem.
What an accomplishment! A true adventure with stunning cinematography and an engaging plot. While not perfect, it marks a milestone in what can be possible. This film deserves a closer look by indie aficionados! The female lead is the anchor and there are few weak links in the cast. The storytelling is suspenseful and challenging. The characters are sympathetic even in their foibles and mistakes. The specificity of what it means to hike the Grand Canyon will impress real hikers and enthusiasts alike. I wish there was a Making Of documentary to go aalong with the film. Muat have been quite and adventure in itself. Enjoy!
A great movie with a storyline that is easy to follow. The cinematography was breathtaking. It caught the essence and magnificence of the Grand Canyon. I've read about many of the places in the canyon but have not had the opportunity to hike down. The characters in this film are well developed and their unique personalities shine through. The main character showed his commitment to a promise he had made in the past to hike to Granite Rapids. His spouse demonstrated her realization that this was an important goal for him to accomplish and was supportive. The actors did a great job. I highly recommend this film and would like to see more from this great production team.
