British actor Tim Roth drew a big crowd and much applause with a masterclass at the 15th edition of the Luxembourg City Film Festival (LuxFilmFest) last week, in which he discussed such topics as his work with Tupac Shakur, Quentin Tarantino and Werner Herzog and how he prepared for his first TV role as a racist skinhead.

With theHarry Potter reboot show on the way, Warner Bros. has apparently lost interest in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. After the original movies ended, the Fantastic Beasts movies appeared to be the natural next step for the franchise. 2016's
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them proved to be a captivating hit, drawing in over $800 million and earning generally positive responses. It was proof that audiences were intrigued by these movies. Unfortunately, that intrigue quickly faded.
Every movie saw less interest from audiences. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) earned around $650 million, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) earned around $400 million. There has been no word of a sequel, though the story is evidently unfinished. Part of the issue was declining love from audiences, and there are many reasons for it. With increasing class disparity, the pervasion of hyper consumerism, and corporate control over every sphere of life, it’s no wonder that in art and literature, eat-the-rich has become a subgenre in itself. The existing inequality, the negligence of the so-called one percenters towards the plight of those in need, and the inevitable conflict between different strata of the economic hierarchy make for relatable, engrossing narratives. But the issue is, among the numerous movies released nowadays that deal with this particular topic, only a few actually manage to ask the right questions with an understanding perspective. Unfortunately, Netflix’s German drama, Delicious, isn’t one of those, and despite having the right intention to portray the ever-growing and persistent class divide, it ends up demonizing the oppressed class in the most weird way possible. The characterization feels largely derivative as well, and the narrative as a whole is very predictable.

If you have never heard about the Luxembourg City Film Festival before, it may surprise you to know that the biggest annual film event in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, which is surrounded by France, Germany and Belgium, is turning 15 this year.
Long considered a hidden gem on the global fest circuit, the event has steadily gained in stature, routinely attracting big industry names to a country with a population of only around 670,000. Just take last year as an example, when the fest set an attendance record with a 10 percent increase to 19,962. For its 2024, LuxFilmFest, it attracted the likes of Viggo Mortensen, Chinese director Wang Bing, Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako, French director Gaspar Noé — who hosted a retrospective and a masterclass — and a jury that included Luxembourg star Vicky Krieps, German actor Sebastian Koch, and U.S. director Ira Sachs.

In 2014, J.J. Abrams and his team began filming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” at Pinewood Studios in London, launching the Disney era of George Lucas’ galactic franchise.
That $2 billion box office hit also marked the launch of a new era for Great Britain’s film industry. In the decade since, the United Kingdom has made a sustained push to reestablish itself as one of the premier production hubs in the world, with the annual box office top 10 replete with films shot there, year in and year out. “Barbie,” “Wicked,” and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” are just a few of the recent hits to film there.
And this March, Marvel Studios will shoot the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” in England, marking the return of the MCU’s “Avengers” series to Britain for the first time since “Avengers: Age of Ultron” a decade ago. The intervening installments, “Infinity War” and “Endgame,” were filmed at Trilith Studios in Atlanta.

Mads Mikkelsen joined the Harry Potter universe with the third installment Fantastic Beasts prequel series, as the antagonist of the story Gellert Grindelwald, previously portrayed by Johnny Depp. His portrayal of the character sparked renewed interest among fans, with some even preferring his take on the role over Depp’s.

Is Fantastic Beast Getting A Fourth Movie? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Despite Fantastic Beasts seemingly being shelved after the lukewarm reception and disappointing box office of its third installment, Jude Law is keeping the magic alive. The star is holding onto hope for a fourth movie. While the franchise was initially planned as a five-film saga and started strong with its 2016 debut, it lost momentum with subsequent releases. Moreover, Law, who charmed fans as a younger Albus Dumbledore in the second and third films, shared his thoughts about Fantastic Beasts 4 and revisiting the wizarding world.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is flagging, but Jude Law's recent comments signpost a way forward. Emerging in 2016 with the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie, the franchise confirmed itself as a tender and humorous spinoff series based on Harry Potter. This initial movie was followed by 2018's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and 2022's Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Despite the success of the first movie in the franchise, follow-ups struggled at the box office due to a Johnny Depp controversy and convoluted plots, but Jude Law, who says there's enough story for Fantastic Beasts 4, flagged a solution for future outings.
Law masterfully portrays a young Albus Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts movies, joining Richard Harris and Michael Gambon, both sadly deceased, in the pantheon of brilliant Dumbledore actors. While Harris portrayed Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies and Gambon...

Jude Law expresses optimism regarding Fantastic Beasts 4 happening after the franchise was seemingly shelved. Hoping to capitalize on the popularity and success of the Harry Potter franchise, the first Fantastic Beasts spinoff was released in 2016 to generally positive reception. Though originally intended to serve as a five-part saga, the following two movies, released in 2018 and 2022, weren't as warmly received, and the disappointing box office performance of the latter seemingly put plans for Fantastic Beasts 4 on ice.
Law, who played a younger version of Dumledore in the second and third films, now shares a more positive outlook on a potential Fantastic Beasts 4 during a recent interview with GQ. While there are no plans to bring another installment to life at the moment, Law expresses interest in reprising his role. After all, he explains, Dumledore's story isn't yet over. Check out Law's comment below:
Ill just wait until I get the phone call.

Fiona Shaw, who is best known for playing the grouchy Aunt Petunia in the original film series, shares her reaction to the Harry Potter television reboot. HBO is working on adapting J.K. Rowling's beloved book series into a multi-season TV series. The upcoming Harry Potter show will be based on the same seven books as the original movies, telling the same story, albeit on a deeper level, with a new cast. The original movie series stars Daniel Radcliffe as the titular wizard, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.
Shaw, now 66, tells People how she feels about the Harry Potter reboot while promoting Bad Sisters season 2. The actor jokes "How dare you!" in reaction to the news, while sending her best wishes. Shaw questions whether it's still too early for a remake, given that "no time" seems to have passed since the original movies, but...

HBO is currently working on getting a new Harry Potter TV show off the ground. They're casting young actors to play Harry, Ron and Hermione and may be trying to woo veteran English actor Mark Rylance to play Dumbledore. They want to adapt all seven of author J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter books with a level of detail that the Harry Potter movies couldn't squeeze in.
This means at least seven seasons of the show, which could keep fans occupied for a long while. Not that we'll be seeing actual episodes anytime soon. Speaking to reporters, HBO executive Casey Blows speculated that we wouldn't be watching the series until the start of 2027, but even that's just a guess; "don’t hold me to any of that,” he added, per Indiewire. They have a lot of work ahead of them before they can be sure about a release date.

The streets are paved with golden-orange marmalade for Paddington In Peru – is the bear poised to be the UK’s next box office phenomenon?
Paddington In Peru has led an otherwise quiet weekend at the UK and Ireland box office, taking £9.65m to make it the third-largest opening of the year – and the biggest take-home from a British production since No Time To Die in 2021.
It’s some way behind Bond’s £25.9m, of course, and Deadpool & Wolverine (£17.2m) and Inside Out 2 (£11.3m) outstrip poor Paddington in 2024. But with the departure of the Wizarding World franchise from the big screen after the muted reception for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore, and with 007 himself still on an extended vacation, anything approaching a genuine financial hit from home-grown talent is welcome news.

The Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore ending set up the franchise's future, which ended without moving forward to the ultimate Dumbledore vs. Grindelwald wizard battle. Directed by David Yates, the film is the third in what was originally planned as a five-film franchise. While Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them followed magizoologist Newt Scamander on his adventures, The Crimes of Grindelwald and The Secrets of Dumbledore veered away from Newt to make room for Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
The Secrets of Dumbledore delves into Dumbledore's history with Grindelwald and their blood pact while exploring more of the Dumbledore family dynamics and backstory. Fantastic Beasts 3 involves many characters, a plan to stop Grindelwald, and more information about the Wizarding World and how it functions. Crucially, the film also set up the direction of Fantastic Beasts 4, which never happened since Warner Bros. canceled the franchise due to lackluster box office success.

The Fantastic Beasts cast reunited for The Secrets of Dumbledore, bringing the story of magizoologist Newt Scamander more in line with the story of Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald. The franchise seemed headed toward the legendary battle between the great wizards, which people spoke about in awe decades later. The Fantastic Beasts franchise is set in the 1920s and tells the story of Newt and his friends as they encounter great danger during an era where Grindelwald attempted a widespread attack on the Muggle world.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore picks up after the events of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Leta Lestrange is dead, sacrificing herself to save the Scamander brothers, and Queenie changes her allegiance to work alongside Grindelwald. Things are relatively dire for Newt and his friends, who Albus Dumbledore once again recruits to stop Grindelwald from doing something drastic in a bid for more power.

Even though Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is set nearly sixty years before the events of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, there are still characters in both Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter related to one another. Now that there are eleven films in the Wizarding World saga, the franchise's on-screen timeline is teeming with rich lore, complex characters, and a well-established canon. In many cases, these fully realize both the past, present, and future of the Wizarding World, effectively linking both timelines together.
With the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the Fantastic Beasts franchise now has a trilogies-worth of Harry Potter prequel characters. This established a more cohesive Wizarding World packed with new context that helps make the Harry Potter franchise even richer. This includes its ever-growing character base, some of who share surprising connections. Unfortunately, Fantastic Beasts 4 doesn't look like it'll happen, but here...

There were many Gellert Grindelwald actors throughout the Harry Potter franchise, especially as Fantastic Beasts brought him into the spotlight. Each iteration of the infamous wizard Gellert Grindelwald has been wildly different from the other, with each actor bringing their distinctive flavor to the role. Gellert Grindelwald is mentioned a few times throughout the Harry Potter books. However, his first official introduction was as an old "friend" hidden in Dumbledores past in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book.
It is revealed that Grindelwald and Dumbledore were extremely close in the past and planned to bring the Wizarding World out of the shadows and subdue the non-magical population. Dumbledore realizes the error in this plan and, after the death of his sister Ariana, distances himself from Grindelwald. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore confirmed that Credence Barebone/Aurelius Dumbledore (Ezra Miller) is the new Snape (Alan Rickman) through a very familiar line delivered by Aberforth Dumbledore (Richard Coyle). Fantastic Beasts 3 finally shed light on the plot twist of Credence being Aurelius Dumbledore. Indeed, Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) didn't lie, but he was wrong about Aurelius being Albus' brother (and about the Dumbledores abandoning him). In fact, he is Aberforth's long-lost son, and when the two finally reconnect, Aberforth makes Credence's connection to Snape all too clear.
It is revealed in Fantastic Beasts 3 that Aberforth fathered a child with a woman from Godric's Hollow. However, she was sent away, and the baby was swapped by Leta Lestrange (who was trying to temporarily get rid of her noisy brother Corvus). This is how Aurelius Dumbledore was named Credence and put under the care of tyrannic Mary Lou Barebone. While...

Fantastic Beasts 4 is the anticipated sequel to Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, though Newt Scamander's return for another Wizarding World movie isn't certain. The Fantastic Beasts franchise, a prequel series set decades before the Harry Potter films, has not had the smoothest journey. Between the release of the second and third films, the role of Grindelwald was recast, and J.K. Rowling was at the center of controversy. The Secrets of Dumbledore is the third installment, following Albus Dumbledore, Newt Scamander, and their allies as they aim to stop Gellert Grindelwald taking over the Wizarding World.
The third film certainly leaves room for more of Grindelwald and Dumbledores story to be told in Fantastic Beasts 4. Before the release of The Secrets of Dumbledore, it seemed rather clear there would be a fourth installment in the series. However, the future of Fantastic Beasts could depend on a lot of factors,...

Five years after the original Harry Potter series ended in 2011, author J.K. Rowling announced plans for a five-film spin-off prequel based on the Hogwarts manual Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The new series encountered many hiccups and only three films were released.
The new series was nowhere near as successful as Harry Potter, and Jude Law, who plays Albus Dumbledore, has just addressed the franchise's future in an interview with Variety. The first film, released in 2016, was successful but, as it starred Johnny Depp as the villain, it led to many controversies, and eventually led to his replacement with Mads Mikkelsen in the third film. The last installment, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, came out in 2022 and there are no details about how the series will go on.

Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne shares a disappointing response regarding Newt Scamander's return to the Harry Potter franchise. Daniel Radcliffe bid farewell to the role of Harry in 2011 with the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, but the Wizarding World returned in 2016 with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which introduced Newt as a new protagonist. Newt returned for a poorly-reviewed sequel in 2018 and for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in 2022, which stalled the spinoff franchise after it became the lowest-grossing movie in the larger Harry Potter franchise.
In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Redmayne is asked about whether Newt will be returning in any future Fantastic Beasts or Harry Potter projects, and the actor isn't optimistic. Redmayne shares a candid response, revealing that he believes audiences won't be seeing Newt again, at least not on the big screen. The star does tease...

A new favorite for the next James Bond has emerged...and hes a real gentleman. According to the British gambling company, William Hill, Kick-Ass and Kraven the Hunter star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still the odds-on favorite to take over the iconic role from Daniel Craig following his swansong in No Time to Die, but another actor, The Gentlemen and The White Lotus star Theo James is slowly creeping up behind him.
Taylor-Johnson, who has been a betting favorite for the role for some time, with various reports and rumors claiming that he has had meetings about taking over as 007, is currently priced at 11/10 to win the role of James Bond. James, who is also known for the likes of The Inbetweeners Movie, the Divergent series, How It Ends, and the upcoming Stephen King horror movie The Monkey, has now shot up the rankings from 12/1 odds to a far more likely 5/2.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore delivered a shocking twist regarding Credence, revealing that he's Aurelius Dumbledore, the nephew of future Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore himself. Since Credence is Aurelius Dumbledore, his connection to the Dumbledore line was heavily theorized before the big reveal of the Credence twist. It's revealed in the film that Credence is Aberforth Dumbledore's long-lost son, which worked perfectly for the Harry Potter canon and the Fantastic Beasts franchise as a whole.
Fantastic Beasts 3 zeroes in on Dumbledore's role and Credence's part in the villain's movement. However, Credence himself is simply searching for answers about the true identities of his birth parents. Though there are rumors in the wizarding community about who Credence is in Fantastic Beasts and which powerful family he could be linked to, the truth is different and completely unexpected. Fantastic Beasts 3 revealed Credence's parentage through the messages on the mirror he was sending to Aberforth.

Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp continues his (somewhat controversial) comeback, with the actor landing his biggest role so far since legal proceedings with his ex-wife Amber Heard concluded in 2022. Depp has joined Lionsgates Day Drinker and will star opposite his former Blow co-star Penelope Cruz in this action thriller crime caper set on a cruise ship.
Day Drinker is all set to be directed by Marc Webb, who is best known for helming The Amazing Spider-Man franchise and the romantic comedy (500) Days of Summer. According to Deadline, Day Drinker is based on an original spec screenplay by Zach Dean, and you can check out the synopsis for the movie below.
Day Drinker watches as a cruise ship bartender meets a mysterious day drinker only for both of them to find themselves entangled in a criminal underbelly, and connected in unexpected ways.
