My wife perked right up when she saw the title of this episode. "Oh man, I had that shirt! And those posters." She loved that "The Goldbergs" would get around to roasting the New Kids on the Block - or at least the adolescent love for the band. But it's the pairing of Adam and Barry in a misguided revenge scheme against Erica that really makes it funny. It's a nice story about siblings finding common ground, but hilarious because of the boys' baffling love for New Kids.

The first episode of this show I ever saw, and it's a great one, with some variation in plot, and some nice development of the characters.
Great stuff.
Great stuff.
I wouldn't really call this a "roast" of the New Kids but more like a "homage" to it. I think the writers did a pretty good job of trying to mansplain why it was pre-pubescent and pubescent girls who liked the "Beantown boys" so much.
I must say I was pretty skeptical that the writers would handle the writing of this episode in a tasteful way and see the humor in it without being "mean" and "petty" but I was wrong. It was a well thought out episode and was tastefully written.
