Helmed by Hsu Fu-hsiang in his first feature-length campus romance and produced by writer-director Lai Yu-tong, “Lovesick” draws from deeply personal roots. Lai, inspired by his own rebellious school days, envisioned a story that captures the collision of mischief and vulnerability, of lies told to avoid the world and truths that eventually demand to be heard. The effort to channel the appeal of Taiwanese blockbusters such as “You Are the Apple of My Eye” and “Our Times” is evident throughout; the question is whether the filmmakers managed to rise to the occasion.

Even though HBO is busy bringing together a whole new roster of fresh faces for their Harry Potter series, nothing could ever come close to the cast of the original Hp movies. Part of the reason is the connection and friendship between them, which continues to remain just the same even decades after the last film.
Two of the actors that fans love to see interact are Jason Isaacs and Tom Felton, who played the fan-favorite father-son duo in the Og movies, Lucius and Draco Malfoy, respectively. Even after all this time, the two of them continue to remain close, and Isaacs recently celebrated his on-screen son’s return to the world of Harry Potter with some warm words that clash with his on-screen character and his legacy.

Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson turned the Hollywood Bowl into a haven for Americana and country on Friday night, as the two legends brought the Outlaw Music Festival back to the storied venue for the second year in a row.
Dylan went on just as dusk settled, and the stage lit up like a noir rodeo, revealing Dylan’s signature piano. He and his band — dressed in black like outlaw undertakers — opened with a swaggering “Things Have Changed.”
The stage setup was simple: An image of a peaceful mountain lake backdrop that resembled a fancy water bottle label, blending well with the surrounding Hollywood Hills, and a crowd full of cowboy hats and rhinestones.
Opening for Dylan and Nelson Friday night were bluegrass stars Sierra Hull and Billy Strings, while upcoming Outlaw Fest 2025 tour stops will rotate in acts like Sheryl Crow, Wilco, Lucinda Williams, and Nathaniel Rateliff. Outlaw lineups...

In a landmark announcement that underscores Netflix’s continued close relationship with Mexico’s audiovisual industry, Co-CEO Ted Sarandos revealed a $1 billion investment in the country over the next four years.
The commitment, unveiled during a press conference with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, aims to bolster the local audiovisual industry and create a plethora of opportunities nationwide.
“It is great to be back in Mexico City. Every time I come here, I’m amazed by the blend of the old and the new — between history and modern culture,” Sarandos said. “It’s inspiring. And it helps explain why there’s always been so much creativity in Mexico — from art and food to literature, architecture and, of course, storytelling.”

Johnny Flynn’s career has taken him from Regency England to WWII (“Operation Mincemeat”) to contempo Glasgow (“Lovesick”) to mid-century Italy (“Ripley”) to 1971 David Bowie (“Stardust”), and now the versatile actor-singer-songwriter travels to post Civil War America in “A Prayer for the Dying.” Adapted from the novel by Stewart O’Nan and directed by Dara Van Dusen, the drama unfolds in 1870 Wisconsin, in a small town of Scandinavian settlers who face a chillingly timely threat of a pandemic and wildfires. Flynn plays Jacob Hansen, the local sheriff and town leader, and John C. Reilly co-stars as the town’s doctor. Anton and New Europe Films are handling worldwide rights, and Anton will be debuting a new sales promo at EFM.

Lyrical Media chief Alex Black got swarmed with “a million emails and messages” on the day it was announced his young production company was teaming with Ryder Picture Company on a film adaptation of Emily Henry’s best-selling 2024 rom-com “Funny Story,” screen-written by the author herself.
A big get for any studio, the deal was particularly noteworthy for a three-year-old company still establishing itself in Hollywood and going up against the old guard for top titles and talent.
“In the meeting, I think we were able to really pitch to Emily that we would be great partners on this project because of our understanding of the material and our ability to make independent movies — not necessarily indie movies — that allows us to just work more nimbly and do what’s best for the project,” Lyrical Media’s vice president of film and TV Natalie Sellers said. “Emily got really excited...

Ruby Yao (Stephanie Hsu), the protagonist of the Peacock comedy “Laid,” is variously described as “selfish,” “a nightmare,” “the worst person I have ever met” and belonging “in jail.” Hsu’s performance and Ruby’s characterization as a whole are indeed intensely off-putting, in ways both intentional and not. But Ruby’s karmic comeuppance in this series, adapted by sitcom veterans Nahnatchka Khan (“Fresh off the Boat”) and Sally Bradford McKenna (“The Goldbergs”) from an Australian show of the same name, doesn’t affect her directly. Instead, everyone she’s ever slept with starts to die — often in outlandish ways, always in the order she had sex with them.
This morbid premise evokes the late, great “Lovesick.” But unlike that British series, in which the hero’s Sti leads him to revisit past relationships, the heightened stakes of “Laid” present a tonal hurdle the eight-episode season proves unable to surmount.

In the strange and outlandish world of rock & roll, certain backstage legends refuse to die: The band that only wanted certain colored M&Ms or specific kinds of tea in their dressing rooms. Or eight packs of “sugar-free gum” (we’re looking at you, Killers).
Alas, one of those myths, which bemuse those of us who chronicle such things, may have just been dispelled: the artist who demands that no one look directly at him or her in any backstage capacity.
That order was largely associated with Prince, whose former associates would generally confirm it.

Ali Larter is the troublesome ex-wife of an oil company crisis manager in Landman. Larter quickly became a household name in the late '90s and early '00s with her back-to-back hit roles in the cult classic teen sports comedy Varsity Blues, the Reese Witherspoon-led Legally Blonde and horror hits Final Destination and House on Haunted Hill. After finding further success with NBC's Heroes and Paul W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil franchise, Larter took a brief acting hiatus to focus on her family from 2011-14, returning with the Matt LeBlanc-co-starring Lovesick, the acclaimed sports drama Pitch and ABC's The Rookie.
In Landman, Larter stars as Angela Norris, the rowdy ex-wife of Billy Bob Thornton's eponymous oil company crisis manager, Tommy. Despite having remarried and moved to another part of Texas, Angela and Tommy remain in frequent communication about their similarly troublemaking teen daughter, Ainsley, who...

The Forrest Gump soundtrack features iconic songs from a wide variety of music artists, including Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The movie chronicles the life of the title character, a warm-hearted man from Alabama who takes a tour of 20th-century American history. Throughout his travels, he fights in the Vietnam War, meets a handful of U.S. presidents, invests in Apple on the ground level, and exposes the Watergate scandal. Along the way, Forrest Gump uses needle drops on its soundtrack to reflect the changing times.

Actor and singer Johnny Flynn boasts an impressive filmography spanning many genres. He played a chief enforcer named Francis in The Outfit, the wealthy, charming, and sometimes foolish Mr. Knightley in Emma, and the spoiled Dickie Greenleaf in the recent Ripley. But before these projects, Flynn starred in a series entitled Lovesick. Here, Flynn plays a grounded and chaotic guy named Dylan, and along with two of his best friends/housemates, Evie (Antonia Thomas) and Luke (Daniel Ings), go on out-of-pocket adventures individually and as a group. But more importantly, it shows the good and bad of relationships may it be in a platonic, non-committal, or romantic way. Its a great rom-com for those who want to watch relatable people make tons of mistakes, especially when it comes to connecting with other people.
