In real life there are mirrors in cinema

The first movie to resemble real life in 2020. The only thing different is here a virus has ravaged the population and the bleak emptiness is not because of staying home but because of death. I have to admit watching these films is the same thing your mind does riding a roller coaster. Your right there it's gonna be a lil shock to the brain but for some reason it also soothes the soul. This is a thinking persons viral outbreak journey film. Plus the cinematography is absolutely wonderful. Also if the acting weren't good this would be a difficult movie to pull off. The pace is a little meditative and lots of care has been done to execute this film. It's not gory or action packed but it has a wonderful plot. Enjoy and escape the real stress of 2020 . Be safe everyone.

A missed gem in a field of rocks.

I stumbled across this film by sheer chance, it proved to be most fortuitous. I am a prepper, a survivalist, and hold little hope in humanity not meeting the reaper head on. This movie should give many a moment of pause to consider such an event, as it is portrayed in this film. No big budget distractions, no blood, guts and gory glory, just a damn fine cast and crew bringing a tragedy to life with grace and professional methodology. I wont give anything away, suffice to say, if you want an honest realisation of perhaps the most probable end to life as we know it, this gem of a movie delivers. Beautifully filmed and artfully directed, this has become a film that I will be only to happy to recommend to my friends and family. The cast is very consistent and convincing, the cinematography is outstanding and the story disturbingly viable. If you want a sneak peek at our probable demise, this is a movie showing humanity ending with a whimper, not a bang.

    Well done

I don't know if it was well acted, well directed, or both. But this little film held my interest the entire time. Slow moving with thoughtful dialogue and realistic relationships.

    beautiful

Cinematography is incredible, also the soundtrack has a dreamy quality about it that i love, like the pace because there is a lot to digest but the scenery is just out of this world

    SCIENCE-FICTION DRAMA

Co-produced and directed by Kristjan Thor, starring Nerea Duhart as the title character "Anstraea" a 14 or 15 year old who also happens to be the narrator of the movie. It is during the snowy apocalypse and she lives with her half- brother, Mathew (Scotty Crowe) in what they think is a remote area. Up until they both witnessed a hunter successfully shooting a deer both Mathew and Astraea wanted, as there's a scarcity of food. Motivating them to follow the hunter to his place of residence. Now at this point, Astraea had hopes and plans to be reunited with the rest of her family who they both intended to. But they ended up bonding with the only two people who live around the area of teacher and bookworm, James (Dan O'Brien) and his cousin, Callie (Jessica Cummings).

    • Trivia
When asked about the inspiration for the film, Director Kristjan Thor noted a "really strong passion for the conceptual blend of a teenage coming of age story, but set against the backdrop of the apocalypse. The film takes place in an empty world, where Astraea's peer group is totally unique and very intimate, and she as a character is developing these odd, visionary abilities... you can also view it as something of a metaphor for the experience of being a teenager in general."
