Kathleen Quinlan, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Anna Schafer, and Ryan Vincent in Elizabeth Blue (2017)

Review by koppkathrinsplit

Elizabeth Blue

9/10

very good mental health drama

If you are interested in mental health, psychiatry, psychology, therapy, use of psychotropic medication... this movie is for you.

If you like love stories, this movie is for you.

The totally unexpected ending might bring you to tears.

The acting is superb. The main actress is very special, and plays the role of the mental patient wonderfully. The boyfriend also. You can feel, taste, the love. It feels too good to be true, but in a realistic kind of way - such love does exist. Through the good and through the bad.

If you like family drama, parent-adult children (mother-daughter) conflict - this movie is also for you. Even though it is mot the main topic throughout the movie, it is one of the themes, and is also acted superbly.

The pyichiatrist is so very calm and professional when talking to Elizabeth. Wonderful actor, I leep thinlking he reminds me of somebod< in real life. Some social worker or psichiatrist or somebody else who emenated this professional but kind calmness.

The scenes are simple, the picture quality is very high which I love in movies. Even the clothing chosen and the way the characters move and sit is so full of grace.

The movie makes you really feel for the main character whose path is followes. It makes you wish the best for her.

The ending is a surpise, but I will not put any spoilers.

All in all, very well made, deeply moving, and also educating about therapy and medication.
