Along with incompetent prosecutors (I read Marcia Clark's book on the OJ trial), and the smarmy defense attorneys (especially F. Lee Bailey), phony witnesses such as Kato Kaelin and Al Cowlings lead to a celebrity getting away with a double-murder. Just compare Kaelin's criminal trial testimony with his testimony in the civil trial, and you will notice the complete transformation and what he saw and did on the night of the murder at the Brentwood home. Unfortunately, the criminal trial was televised, and Kaelin, being an actor, and staring into the court cameras, did not want to inhibit his future career prospects by testifying truthfully.
