The Chase (2006)

Review by qui_j

The Chase

2/10

Coronation Street, but with animals!

This is not "All Creatures Great and Small". It's a very thinly disguised, very bad, cheesy soap opera that is filled with characters who lie, cheat, steal etc. The acting is pretty bad and the script pretty much matches the putrid and cloying soundtrack. The sets are pretty much designed for a soap opera, with vases of flowers everywhere one might look. The editing is done in the format of a soap opera. A laughable bit is when the Dad has his heart attack and clutches the right side of his chest and arm. You would think a Vet show would at least get the basics right.

The thing with streaming services like Britbox and AcornTv is that they seem to fill their queues with all the failed shows on British TV, and then wonder why viewers do not stay with them on a long term basis. They are services best visited intermittently to watch the very few shows that are actually worthwhile, years after they have run their course on British TV.
