All In: Miracle at St. Bernard's (2022)

Review by rtarley

All In: Miracle at St. Bernard's

1/10

Cliched and Boring

I recently watched the documentary All In: St. Bernard's, and unfortunately, it was a major letdown. Despite its promising premise of a struggling Catholic school facing financial difficulties and the efforts to save it, the execution fell flat. The film failed to captivate and engage me throughout its duration. The pacing was sluggish, making it a tedious watch. The attempts to build tension and emotion around the school's financial struggles and the campaign to raise funds lacked depth and authenticity. The interviews with the individuals involved felt forced and lacked genuine emotion, making it difficult to connect with their stories. Moreover, the documentary heavily relied on cliches and predictable storytelling tropes, which undermined any potential impact it could have had. The football season, which was supposedly magical and pivotal in saving the school, was poorly presented and lacked the necessary emotional investment. The overall production quality was subpar, with lackluster cinematography and editing that did little to enhance the narrative. In the end, All In: St. Bernard's failed to deliver on its promise of a heartfelt and inspiring story, leaving me disappointed and unfulfilled.
