NEEDED MORE TIME IN THE CINEMATIC OVEN...!
A South Korean drama from 2020. Ha Yoon-kyung (from Netflix's Extraordinary Attorney Woo) is a newly minted police officer & being the only woman on the force (as evidenced by the promo photo her commander forces her to pose for outside of the station) she becomes the loci of attention. One day after a jog, she runs into a woman at a park who she feels is off but since it's only an intuition she can't act upon, she just watches her disappear w/her young daughter in tow. At the same time we learn of a kidnapping where the criminals want the public to each donate a certain amount to create a large windfall for a welfare center but no further details are given. A dead body is found in an apartment sending Yoon-kyung to investigate which throws unwanted light on her since she had a run-in w/the man after a welfare check but as the investigation goes deeper, there is more to the story which puts poor Yoon-kyung though the wringer (when she becomes the suspect she's suspended) right until the reveal of the true culprit of the crime at film's end. I think this was a very serviceable effort but I wish the particulars of the murder was further heightened since for the most part there's a a slice of life sheen to the narrative proposed at the start but Yoon-Kyung's perf is still winning enough to've kept me engaged enough to watch.
