Toi non plus tu n'as rien vu (2022)

Review by bohdanascheinostova

Toi non plus tu n'as rien vu

6/10

Great story that falls flat because of its narrative

As much as I would love to like this film because of its contemporary feministic approach to pregnancy denial, "And Yet We Were All Blind" sadly doesn't fulfilll its own potential. Eventhough the premise of the main plot seems attractive and dramatic enough, somehow the suspense fades away half-way through and by the end I personally lost interest in the story. The narrative suddenly feels weary, repeating itself and used up. I understand that it is hard to make a film more thrilling or exciting, when its based on a true fixated story, where you can't move away from the real events. Yet I still feel that it could have been executed a bit more intricately with much more emotion. The almost academic approach to the intimate issue of pregnancy denial was for me a bit of a shame and I would have appreciated to see the story presented in a more emotional manner. Unfortunately due to this apathetic nature the whole film fell a bit flat and indifferent - paradoxically to the seriousness and dramatic aspect of of the plot.
