Christmas on the Rocks (2022)

Review by Jackbv123

Christmas on the Rocks

6/10

Sister swap

This is another story where the boss and event planner is impersonated. This time it is by her twin sister, Jennifer, with Sarah's full support. There is a slightly unusual element in that Jennifer's high school boyfriend shows up, but he also thinks she is the sister Sarah.

Jennifer's job is even more impossible than usual in these movies since the supplies she is given to work with are lacking in quality and quantity. It was a stretch at how many obstacles she faced and Liz isn't likely to accept excuses. Nevertheless, Jennifer doesn't stop to complain and proves to be more than competent. She makes an appealing character.

It's no surprise that Jennifer and Peter get thrown together. How the mistaken identity would play out could have been fun, but instead it was direct, early, and sad. Steve is a cardboard cutout of a villain.

The acting is fair at best. Lyla Porter-Follows lacks emotion and any chemistry with Jon McLaren is subdued. The dialogue is flat.

The climax is just cheesy, although the very last scene is cute.

I was a little surprised that on the UpTV network, Jennifer answers her room door with her robe open revealing an attractive nighty. It doesn't reveal a lot, but it is not an appropriate action for this type of character and not a great role model for teen and young adult viewers.
