Emily Watson, Jason Isaacs, Nick Frost, Jessica Brown Findlay, and Emily Carey in Monster Family: En route pour l'aventure (2021)

Review by reeceagland

Monster Family: En route pour l'aventure

4/10

Below average fair, poorly written and strangely animated

It looks OK in the short but the actual movie if quite forgettable, with a few genuine life's.

First thing first, the animation is very weird, may have been top shelf ten years ago but lacks real feel. In part I blame the eyes, they just giant discs that take away any feeling.

Furthermore, many of the characters looked lifted from other animations. Mila looks like the bad guy from The Incredibles just turned into a female.

Then there is the story, most of which we have seen done better elswhere, is staid and travels at a mediocre pace with no surprises.

The voice acting is pretty average and clearly c grade talent.

As bad as it it isn't so bad as to be terrible either, it's just terribly average. Young children will probably enjoy it to a degree but it won't be a favourite either.

So if desperate for something to keep kids under 10 amused without adult supervision it may pass but parents will want to bang their head against a wall if they have to sit through it.

So for me 4 stars out of 10.
