Erick Elias, Emilio Treviño, Herman López, Mayté Cordeiro, and Benny Mendoza in La Leyenda del Charro Negro (2018)

Review by D4V1D2411

La Leyenda del Charro Negro

8/10

A worthy ending that could have been better

I absolutely love the first 2 movies of this saga, but I also dont really like the 3rd and 4th movies which I think are bad and not entertaining. So when I heard tat the 5th movie was going to be the last one, I was a little scared, feearing it would be more like the bad ones. I was absolutely reliefed when I watched it and saw it was good and enjoyable. First, lets say that as the movie came out, the animation was getting better and better and for this one, it is at its best and I have no complaints in that area. Then there is the story; for the last 2 movie they had mixed a lot of things and plot lines while also adding new useless characters. And while this movie also ads a not very important plotline, the main story is much more relevant and gives the main side characters something actually relevant to do, they are helping Leo, they help the plot unravel and are more fun than how they were in the previous 2 movies. And one of the great aspects f this is the villain. These movies were not great for theyre villains, they were iconic legends that are used as antagonist but they arent given a lot of screentime or things to do. This changes in this movie, The Charro Negro is not only one of the most iconic legends in Mexico, but the character itself can talk and interact with the characters, making him more threatening and important, adding the fact that he has kidnapped Leos friends, this makes him the most dangerous foe of the saga to date. So the animation, story, characters are good, but it also delivers a satisfying ending to the saga. There are some plot holes with how things end and it is clear that they just came up with the ending a movie ago but if you can endure those plotholes, you can enjoy the movie a lot more. Of course, it is still not perfect, there is a sidepot involving a father and his daughter that adds nothing to the story and if you ignore them, the movie could easily flow the same. And I mentioned that the jokes are much better that in the last 2 movies but they are still not as good as they were in the first 2; the same could also be said of the characters (except Leo and Nando), that they are a vast improvement of how they were getting worse and worse from the previous 2 movies, but once again, they are still not as good as in the first 2 movies. I kwon Im not being objective with the movie, but I just love this saga and characters so much that Im able to bare a lot of its mistakes and enjoy the movie as much as I can and given that its actually a decent movie and a decent ending, I just enjoy it much more than how I would if I was not a fan.
