Ah Nerede (2022)

Review by cgvsluis

Ah Nerede

6/10

Short hate to love romantic Turkish comedy with a great leading couple.

The best thing about this short run 2022 summer Turkish comedy series is the two leads Ferit and Zehra. They were not only an attractive couple, but they had wonderful chemistry. Of course it didn't start out that way as this series is a hate to love romantic comedy and these two couldn't be more opposite. Ferit comes from a wealthy family and his two brothers are living in luxury in Istanbul. All three brothers have left college to pursue less serious pursuits...for Ferit that means women and he currently is juggling three girlfriends (which includes two roommates) and is actively pursuing a fourth online. Coincidentally, the two roommates are tenants in Zehra's family home which is presided over by Zehra's brother Ali. Zehra is from a working class family that includes her mother (a hairdresser), her brother Ali (neighborhood coffee shop owner), Ali's daughter Duygu (abandoned by her mom) and her cousin Huriye (not really clear why she lives with them, but she is part of the comic relief of the show). Zehra works in one of Ferit's family's pastry shops and is a want to be medical student. She was left at the alter by Hakan...who was convinced by Ferit to leave her to go have fun.

When the three girlfriends find out about each other, they convince Zehra to make Ferit fall in love with her only to leave him...and hilarity ensues. This ends on a wonderful happy note...so it is worth hanging in till the end

There were some fun episodes and a good supporting cast. I am not sure I am built for Turkish comedies, but what kept me in this series was the fact that it is short at only seven episodes and the two romantic leads, Oktay Cubuk (Ferit) and Nil Keser (Zehra). While not my favorite Turkish series, this could be a good starter comedy series for someone just getting in to Turkish TV...or learning to speak Turkish.
