Amit Sadh, Gulshan Devaiah, and Drashti Dhami in Duranga (2022)

Review by puranjanbasak

Duranga

7/10

Duranga

Duranga is a crime drama show directed by aijaz khan and pradeep sarkar.

First up, the performances. Gulshan devaiah has picked up the character, fixed it in his memory and just played it fluently. You won't see the slightest of hiccup in his performance. He is a broken man with an unnerving past. The urgency with which he switched emotions is outstanding. Drashti dhami as his wifr lends a great support in being tough and also vulnerable. Abhijeet khandkekar was playing it very over the top at first but he settled down as the show progressed. His character was irritating at firat. The rest of the cast is okay. Special mention for hera mishra as anya. She was so so cute in the show.

The cinematography did not have any special moment or shot. But the chase sequences are very amateurish. It seems like someone fast forwarded it with millions of camera angles and none of the shots are good enough. The dialogues too don't evoke the emotions necessary in certain places. The background score is good but it plays to being repetetive after a certain point. There is no nuanced thing here. These things did break my engagement.

But the plot is so good that it eventually gets you through. The occasional twists it throws at you. Some you will be surprised by, some you will not. Also the screenplay does justice to it. Its fast paced and also entertains and most importantly engages you at the right moment. For the first three four episodes I was confused. The show doesn't let the viewers know whats happening.

There are some logical toopholes though. For instance, two individuals inside cars are being tracked. One car throws it out and the signal goes out. There was also the second car, right? Then how did the signal go out?

There are some moments which will tug at your heartstring. In the final episodes, there is one sequence where a character tries to choke his loved one. And the bgm along with a marathi song make it a superb sequence.

Its a good show which could have been better with better technical execution. I rate it 7 out of 10.
