Sarancha (2014)

Review by albertval-69560

Sarancha

6/10

This Erotic Thriller Deserves an Audience

It's a tragic story of ill-fated lovers. Lera and Artem's love is complicated and challenges that beset them threaten their love affair. But despite their problems, they profess undying love for each other.

The main characters are believable. You sympathize with Lera's unenviable plight. Paulina Andreeva is credible in her portrayal of a girl so much in love but is thwarted by cruel circumstances. Pyotr Fyodorov is convincing in his role as an ambitious young man who doesn't hesitate to use foul means in the name of love. The story's ending is ironic.

This is a cautionary tale that true love doesn't conquer all. More than romantic love, one has to have strong values to nourish true love and eschew situations that will destroy it.

Oleg Malovichko's script deserves a chance to be heard.
