Azaad (1955)

Review by cseabhi

Azaad

7/10

The charisma of Azad and the lovely songs

To be fair, this was not the best of Dilip Kumar's movie, but it certainly entertains you and Dilip Kumar, Meena Kumari along with the soulful and melodious music provides wholesome entertainment.

The story is not that complex. Sundar(Pran) wants to marry Shobha(Meena Kumari) but the family hates him. Shobha is then kidnapped and it was assumed Sundar has taken her. Later Shobha is released and rescued by Azad(Dilip Kumar). But Azad has some other identity also and is seen in several disguise throughout the movie.

Meena Kumari and Dilip Kumar looks so good together and it was such a pleasure to see them both in a romantic drama. Dilip Kumar won filmfare award for his performance and he is a treat to watch. Pran also looked perfect in a baddie role.

The movie's strength lie in its music by C Ramchandra. They are extremely melodious and magical.

It's not that great of a movie but a complete entertainer which will certainly lift your mood.
