Mammootty, Suhasini, and Rahman in Koodevide? (1983)

Review by vimalabrahamaby

Koodevide?

9/10

An Underrated Classic

Koodevide is a malayalam language drama film written and directed by Padmarajan.I am so sad to say that i have'nt heard even a single person talking about it.If not for Padmarajan i would'nt have probably watched the film.I watched the film with little expectations and i was so surprised at how good the film was.I never expected it to be that good. It tells us about the problems that arises when a man(mammootty) suspects the relationship between his lover(suhasini),who is a teacher with her student. It is an excellent drama filled with stellar performances.Mammootty who is too good in pulling out negative characters does the same here again.Rahman shines with his performance as the innocent young boy while Suhasini's performance was top notch as a women struggling between her lover and her student. The soundtrack composed by Johnson like in other Padmarajan movies was fantastic. The script written by Padmrajan was, as always was fantastic filled with a lot of emotions and some memorable characters.Unlike other dramas in the early 80's the incidents happening in the films seems to be reasonable on considering the character of Mammootty. It is one of those films in 80's which should be counted as a classic and undoubtly one of the best directional ventures of the legend Padmarajan.
