As much as i don't like the idea for killing these animals this could be scaled up to save lots of animals. The trouble is most people don't understand that similar practises happen in zoos and deer parks world wide and produce stronger healthier herds. I would like to see maybe darting lions but,can't see any problem killing antelopes, zebras. Most giraffes species are going extent this could save them. Its interesting to hear that elephants cause damage to trees,i have seen this on programs and seen that people were just killing them from helicopters with riffles in the past just to manage them. If they are dying out all over Africa maybe they could be moved, if groups get too big and managed parks could help relocate herds.
