Parvathy Thiruvothu in Uyare (2019)

Review by prabhat-prasannan

Uyare

9/10

Growing actors and an Expert director

You can really be assured about a well told story when you see Bobby-Sanjay as the screenwriters. After path changing Malayalam scripts like TRAFFIC, Ayalum Njanum Thammil and How Old Are You, it was a no brainer that Uyare will be exceeding expectations on that front.

For me the real revelation of this movie was the director Manu Ashokan. After watching the movie I was pleasantly very surprised to know that he is a debutant. Very very well directed.

It's really about some actors growing as performers in this movie. Parvathy has time and again proven her mettle as a young and matured actor but I saw some intense effort from Asaf Ali whom I always have a soft corner for. But the rising star for me is Tovino. I didn't like him earlier due to his choice of characters but now he is proving me wrong that it was just his way of showing that he can handle a range of roles.

Uyare is a must watch as its a story of social stigma, lost opportunities and how we wrongly perceive that certain things won't happen to us but when they do, we don't know how to handle our dreams that were once shattered.
