La théorie du chaos (2014)

Review by Ed-Shullivan

La théorie du chaos

4/10

Yes there is plenty of eye candy...but this made for TV movie is by no means a dandy

Let's just put our cards on the table and state that this mystery murder thriller was most likely made on a small budget and not designed to ever be released as a major motion picture. Why? Well to begin with the key players in this thriller/mystery are basically television stars such as Lochlyn Munro, Natasha Henstridge and Miranda Frigon, all of whom had made most of their living and film career on the smaller TV screen in made for TV movies such as this one.

It looks and feels like any other cookie cutter made for TV movie drama/mystery and that is what we get. You are provided with a number of potential suspects who may be guilty of harassing district attorney Genna Knowles (Miranda Frigon). When a convicted serial killer that district attorney Genna Knowles put behind bars is burned beyond recognition while making his way to court it is to no one's surprise that he may not have died but may in fact be involved in the recent murders of Genna's associates and friends while she herself is running for the vacant Mayor's position.

With many real politicians you may have noticed that when they are delivering speeches, they almost always invariably have their hands and arms waving up and down so that their audience are almost unconsciously watching the continuous movement of the politicians arms and their hands and not actually paying any attention to the bull crap that is spewing out of their politicians mouth. I use this as an example because in this film both the district attorney/wannabe mayor Genna Knowles (Miranda Frigon) and the lead detective Lt. Alison Briggs (Natasha Henstridge) are the eye candy provided for the films audience to focus on and not what limited content of this thriller/mystery made for TV movie is actually delivering.

I will not spoil the ending of the film for anyone, but as expected the gorgeous ladies outsmart the culprit who is responsible for the havoc being caused in the young good looking Genna Knowles life and everyone lives happily ever after ...except the perpetrator(s).

As the film content leaves little to be desired I would be remiss if I tried to embellish my review with how attractive the district attorney and lieutenant were but my point is, that is why this film is hard to take very seriously as a mystery/thriller. Eye candy? Yes. / Content and substance? No

I give the film a 4 out of 10 rating
