Dileep, Lal, and Mohini in Punjabi House (1998)

Review by ayocaramba

Punjabi House

8/10

One of the best Malayalam comedy films of the 90s

Punjabi House is probably the most remembered of Rafi Mecartin's films from the 90s. The film has stood the test of time, and its jokes are still fresh and memorable to even now in 2018, 20 years later.

I think the film gave a big break to Dileep career's as a mainstream lead actor. But the success of the film lies on the slapstick comedic performances of Harishree Ashokan (as Ramanan) and Cochin Haneefa (as Gangadharan). They are just spectacular in this, and it's their performances that keeps you engaged. To support, there is Janardhanan, Indrans, Neena Kurup, Mohini and Lal who were all great.

Rafi Mecartin proved with this film that they were the next big masters of the comedy genre after Priyadarshan and Siddique-Lal.
