Joslyn Jensen and Jared Abrahamson in New (2014)

Review by bigbundy69

8/10

Interesting glimpse into a new reality

The movie deals with the future when people who froze themselves in these days will be "revived" and live another life. Some of this "bright future" reminded me the extreme positives of how Demolition Man portrait it (which i think is way too optimistic and completely unrealistic, but that doesn't hurt the movie).

The questions this short movie makes us ask are way more important: Is it possible to integrate in a society without growing up in it (this part can be seen today as people who immigrate from different cultures to other cultures do/try to integrate there)? How will we function in a completely different society (with massively different structure)? Do some of the most valued traits in our society are really so important? Do we want to spend the time with our significant other in the new life as well {which reminds me of a sci-fi book (i think) where each person had the opportunity to come back to a certain point in their life back to once they 'died the first time and the problems it created between couples who's one partner was in their '1st life' and the other in the 'final life'}?

Overall the movie does a great job at asking many interesting questions but i didn't like the part where the movie dealt with the answers (albeit very short part that dealt with only several questions as this is a short movie). This is a great promo to a full movie that if won't be done in Hollywood and will not fall into the stupid clichés they are so into could be an awesome full time movie
