Toshi densetsu no onna (2012)

Review by bmaschi

Toshi densetsu no onna

10/10

Nothing too scary. Nothing too brainy. Just fun… and legs

This was my first introduction to a Japanese television series and I can't imagine that it could get any better. The characters, the humor, the plots all blend well and create a light but engaging experience. Not as scary as some of the episode blurbs might suggest, though there is some nice tension and occasional surprises.

Masami Nagasawa stars as the long-legged police detective who beats down a variety of evil-doers usually connected to a Japanese or western legend. Masami, looking like an innocent young woman who's addicted to mini-skirts, uses both her expected beauty and unexpected brains to numb her opponents and solve her cases.

Very hard to find this series. I discovered two seasons (I believe there are 2 but there may be 3) on Roku's Viki station and recently found an English-subtitled, boxed, all-zone DVD set! (Like a kid, waiting for the mail every day). This boxed set, and anything else connected to this series, is hard to find, rising to the status of collectible.
