September, une femme seule (2013)

Review by a_shahm

September, une femme seule

8/10

A solid drama about loneliness and depression during the economic crisis that blighted Greece

An interesting Drama that reveal the consequences of the economic crisis and how it reflects on the life of (Anna), a solitary Greek woman in her 30s, who was living alone with her dog (Manu), and how her life turned upside down after her dog gets ill and dies, as she don't have any money to catch her sister in the USA. As Anna tries to escape the loneliness and the emptiness of her life, she decides to share her grief with Sophia who lives nearby in a big house with a garden with her husband and two kids, Sophia agreed to bury the dog in her garden, that act that gives Anna an excuse to get very closer to Sophia and her family in a very weird way . you don't have to be a Greek to understand how the main actress desires and feels, but if you have a little background about the economic crisis in Greece and how it reflect on the Greek people you will easily got the point, a powerful acting from the lead actress, and an excellent and simple cinematography that exposed the loneliness in a very realistic way. Worth seeing for the people who like the European Cinema .
