Efrain Figueroa, Amaury Nolasco, and Mercedes López Renard in El Teniente Amado (2013)

Review by rafael_2004

El Teniente Amado

7/10

El Teniente Amado

Greetings friends readers, Dominicans have raced with bad luck as far as rulers is concerned, a series of dictators, a few more pimps than others. Rafael L.Trujillo was that most lasted in power, did blood and fire during 31 years of abuse and terror.

Dominicans films has touched the subject of the dictatorship of Trujillo on several occasions, in all, it came out badly to stop the production. The dictatorship of Trujillo, is now again but the dictator becomes a secondary character, the film focuses on the Lieutenant Amado García Guerrero, one of the executioners of the dictator. We'll see how it turns to be a loyal soldier to a conspirator who aspires to change our destiny.

I liked the performances, Amaury Nolasco does it well, is credible as a military, fits almost perfect in the assigned role. The side I liked, except for Antonio Jaramillo, Mexican actor that not never emerges from his accent and hear it saying ¨pendejo¨ to take us to the flea hop. The atmosphere is good, feel really be at the time, dress alike. Limardo directing is average, there are details that escape him, as it is the case of the car where killed Trujillo, going in a scene that car has deteriorated inside, and the Dominicans that had read about Chapita, knows the perfectionist who was, and was not going to jump on a limousine in deplorable conditions.

The script is good, while there are several bugs which we cannot ignore, I would like to see another film written by Huchi Lora, soon made his debut on the right foot. Photography is the best thing that has the movie, we note that there is a team of professionals behind the camera.

If you want to see a good Dominican movie, in the Lieutenant Amado have a good choice, it is our film, we will support our cinema, cinema that supports those who pay for a ticket and we hope a good result. I'm satisfied with The Lieutenant Amado, it is a film that is worth supporting and will support it.
