Triple Crossed (1959)

Review by simeon_flake

Triple Crossed

1/10

The end of the line...

By this time, the short film medium was all but dead & Moe and Larry were at the end of their comedic rope with the overgrown man-child Joe Besser attached to them. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't hate Joe. Joe was actually pretty funny on the old Abbott and Costello TV show, but as a stooge, his dainty personality just didn't mesh with the roughneck stooges and this film is definitely one of the worst.

What makes this particular short all the more shameful is that they had a living, breathing 3rd stooge to work with, yet there are many scenes in this short where you can hear and see Shemp Howard. I just guess Jules White and the entire cast and crew just didn't give a damn anymore & wanted to crank out these last few shorts as quickly and cheaply as possible.

While "He Cooked His Goose" isn't exactly a masterpiece, it is stooge heaven compared to this dreck. Avoid at all cost.
