Chantabbai (1986)

Review by billur-taurus

Chantabbai

8/10

A feel-good comedy

This is one of the first Chiranjeevi movies I saw as a child, and it was a welcome break from all of his love story and action movies. The storyline is different for its time and the acting by almost all of the actors is a humorous riot. Chiranjeevi as the self-proclaimed top detective is unmatched and brilliant. Sutthivelu as his aide and assistant matches his comic timing and wit without effort. Suhasini proved time and again that she is not just a beautiful face and in this movie, is as flawless as ever. All the other actors - Sudhakar, Chandramohan, Jagayya, Allu Ramalingaiah and Muccharla Aruna are strong in their characters. But one actress who deserves special praise is Sri Lakshmi. She sets the bar high for all the other actors in the movie. Her spontainety and humour reflects in her innocent yet funny dialogue delivery. (Pond, James Pond - Ponds powder aa?? Maakakkarledu... Thats a classic line). Her poetry and culinary talent in the movie is something you should watch out for!!! :D Watch this movie with a hot cup of tea and all those high calorie yet yummy Indian snacks and you have a well spent 3 hours in your day.. :)
