Pascale Arbillot, Léa Drucker, Marc Lavoine, and Pierre-François Martin-Laval in Les Meilleurs Amis du monde (2010)

Review by dbdumonteil

Les Meilleurs Amis du monde

Des Amis Qui NE Vous Veulent Pas De Bien (friends who don't wish you well)

Perhaps made with "Harry Un Ami Qui Vous Veut Du Bien" in mind and (perhaps) trying to capitalize on its success,"Les Meilleurs Amis Du Monde" begins quite well but finally degenerates into finer feelings complete with a hunters choir !

While en route to their friends' desirable mention,a couple and their son hear a conversation on the phone:their two "pals" are not exactly praising them :the husband is a washout ,a loser ,and the woman is compared to an ironing board in bed.Not exactly kind from two friends. They decide to take their revenge. The woman makes the superb new sofa dirty, the boy kills the spoiled child's hamster and so on.. But the poor man is no match for his athletic macho friend (Marc Lavoine ) who tires him out as he takes him for a jogging or a hunting in the woods.

There are some good moments ,particularly in the first part, with a notable liking for scatology (the toilet seat is a mini computer which is able of anal recognition(!);the loser's new invention is none other than "special" toilet paper ...It's pretty low-level but it's rather nasty. But its ending à la Frank Capra comes at the most awkward moment and the screenwriters are not Billy Wilder or Henri Jeanson.

Best performance comes from Pascale Arbillot ,a non-desperate housewife ,Barbie Doll style ,who looks like an "actress" in commercials (like a Stepford wife ,if you know what I mean).Marc Lavoine overplays ,the best thing to do with a clichéd part.
