Nankinskiy peyzazh

6/10

A next modern Russia's movie-tale of epoch passed

A next modern Russia's movie of epoch passed, mixes metaphysical with Soviet doco while absurdity follows absurd soften with some erotica, beautiful actors and nice music.

Either an English/gradually-Mandarin-deploying KGB operative or an ordinary china expert (ho ho ho by a bit knowing a Soviet reality till Perestroika while movie is of timing Stalin despotism eclipsed in the thirties of the last century) was in Nanking learning a Chinese porcelain. He was obsessed by a very average beautiful and sexy Chinese girl speaking English perfectly (oh, these Russian script-writers!) whose dad was very angry for daughter's friendship with smoothie-Alex while dating, according to this Russian character-an antiques handy-man-turned-writer, a British consultant David happened around already. Intelligently looking Alex met a Skinhead Guy just done his term for, factually and only, a go with then boss's wife while awaiting her husband on a chauffeur's duty: a VIP had broken driver's scull with a chair carried personally (ho ho ho) somewhere from Kremlin after witnessing that thrust in own personal car.

This not-so-silly-ex-chauffeur looked nice, spoken politely and surely guessed a fate of an English specialist shot down, according to Alex's tales, by a Chinese dad.

So far, too much absurdity just to screen a love triangle of which female bedded one male for being attracted by and a second-for a fear to miss his male saturating advantages, perhaps.

If it was a Russian answer to "Lust, Caution", a film is surely rich in paranormal rather than in earthy dismantled.
