Skallamann (2011)

Review by rdoore

Skallamann

8/10

Musical Comedy Short - LGBT Interest

This short won the 2011 Frameline/AT&T Audience award for Short Program. I'm not sure, but it seems from the credits that it was made in Tromsø, Norway. Very clever, very cute, my only complaint was that the sub-titles were in white and there was a lot of white background (snow) - yellow text or a gray box behind the sub-titles would have been nice. Look for this to be released on DVD, perhaps one of the "Boys Shorts" series of DVD's will select this to be included in the next release.

Storyline: Parents are awaiting the arrival of their son, who when he arrives, says he's met someone, he made-out with a bald guy "Skallamann". The mother says it's the worse thing she's ever heard, couldn't he find someone with hair! This begins the singing which takes you out of the house and through the town with many people along the way joining in. Great fun, very witty, good music.
