You American just don't understand. It's not some regular big-budget movie, it's simply sth for the fans of its original TV series to remember by. Don't take it as a new movie, take it as a collection, a highlight. It would be more than enough for the fans just to see so many old faces along with that not-so-awesome green overcoat from the TV again 10 years since last time. You should also know that the top 2 sell-out big-screen movies excluding cartoon (you know, it's Japan) are the previous 2 episodes of this police movie. Just consider it a Beatles reunion you can see the influence its original TV series have on Japanese people.
