Mammootty in Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha (2009)

Review by faukka

Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha

9/10

Best work of Renjith till date!!!

First of all, hats of to "Renjith & Crew" for this excellent masterpiece....

As i heard that Renjith is making the film, i read the novel... To tell the truth, I didn't think anyone could make the novel a decent movie... the novel was basically so complex... but on seeing the film i changed my opinion.. though it misses out on several aspect of the novel, i really liked the movie...

The casting was so perfect that no one will feel that the majority of the cast were fresh faces.

Mammootty is like wine that get better and better with age.. not only for his acting, but also his choice of roles.

There were some memorable scenes like the one shot in which Manikyam is both seen entering and leaving (as a corpse) Paleri... And the other memorable scene is when Keshavan says To Haridas that he is just a barber

The whole film revolves around one character and that is Ahamed Haji. The real beauty of the film is that Ahamed Haji has got only 5-6 scenes. His character is actually developed through the others voices..

But the one scene that really misses out from the novel is the scene in which Ahammed Haji asks the barber to cut his pubic hair. It would be better if Renjith included that scene in the movie...

Also i don't like the third Mammootty role...it would be better if that role is just mentioned and not really shown..

There was some differences from the novel though that are quite acceptable...

Anyway, this is the best Work of Renjith till date!!!
