Les envoutées (1970)

Review by HumanoidOfFlesh

Les envoutées

7/10

The first Swedish erotic horror!

In 1971 the legendary sex film maker Torgny Wickman made "Fear Has a 1000 Eyes",which is often regarded as the first Swedish erotic horror ever made. There are rumours that the movie was heavily censored, but a longer version is nowhere to be found."Fear Has a 1000 Eyes" is an honest attempt to make erotic horror, unfortunately the overall result is bizarre and confusing. The vicar Sven and his pregnant wife Anna live in a vicarage in the country.Anna's friend Hedvig comes to visit. But Hedvig has evil plans and causes spooky happenings and mystical deaths. This Devil's priestess starts an orgy with Anna and Sven before the vicarage burns down with herself inside.Swedish actress Anita Sanders worked mainly in Italian cinema, where she acted for both Pasolini and Fellini. The movie's working title "Henbane in My Ear" is a Shakespeare quote from 'Twelfth Night'.It alludes to the drugs that were supposed to induce sexual hallucinations with women who were said to be witches in old times.7 out of 10.
