Kristiina Halkola in Punahilkka (1968)

Review by Petey-10

Punahilkka

8/10

A girl gets her freedom

Anja Halme is a troubled teenager who goes to reform school. Then she gets her freedom and finds herself in the real world. There she gets a job and starts dating Hannu. But one day she decides to go to a middle-aged pilot called Matti, who gave her the ride home. These two start playing home, but she's not sure which man she wants.Timo Bergholm won a Jussi Award for Best Direction for Punahilkka (1968).He wrote it with his wife Eija-Elina Bergholm. The cast is very good.Kristiina Halkola is very convincing as Anja. The screen and stage legend Lasse Pöysti is one of the kind as the middle-aged airplane pilot.Hannu Kahakorpi is terrific as the car mechanic Hannu.Petra Frey does great job as Tarja Nurminen, who runs away from the reform school.Eila Pehkonen plays Teacher Mäkinen.Pentti Fagerholm is heard as the radio announcer.Irma Seikkula is Dormitory manageress. This movie has many good scenes. The escape scene with Tarja and Anja is one of them. The group is swimming and they go running in the forest.Every scene with Lasse Pöysti is brilliant.Like the one where he goes to buy a couch with Anja.In the end Anja doesn't feel like she's ready for her freedom and she wants to go back to the reform school.A good movie from the 60's.
