Jared Kusnitz, Greyson Chadwick, and Carissa Fowler in Dance of the Dead (2008)

Review by subtlecreep

Dance of the Dead

8/10

This was a fun film

This was a fun film and I enjoyed watching it. I'm actually really surprised to see negative comments about the film. I saw the preview a few weeks ago and when I watched the movie, it was just the kind of thing I thought it was going to be. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of the movie.

The acting, the humor, the gore, the action - it was all balanced very well. The film never took itself to seriously, but at the same time never wandered off into the ridiculous. Some of the gore was just over the top enough to add to the humor and some of the drama was just serious enough to make some of the scenes touching.

I cared about the characters, I laughed, I was surprised by certain events in the plot - the movie was good. True, it wasn't Shaun of the Dead, but that movie was perfect and genius. This movie was fun to watch and seemed to be exactly what it was setting out to be. Everyone involved, from the writer to the director to the actors to the special effects guys did a great job.

I rented this movie, but I definitely plan on buying it to add to my collection.
