Uuno Turhapuron veli (1994)

Review by tomimt

Uuno Turhapuron veli

1/10

A terrible film

To everyone who doesn't know it, Uuno Turhapuro (played by Vesa-Matti Loiri) has been a corner stone of Finnish TV and movie humor for a couple of decades after his creation in the late 60's. He's kind of a lovable rascal, who's only goal in life is to inherit his father in law Tuura, who's the richest man of Finland.

Well, in this excuse of a film Mr. Loiri didn't return as Uuno, so he was loosely, of what I mean REALLY loosely, written out and replaced with his brother Tarmo Turhapuro (Esko Salminen). There were Uuno actually has some likable features, Tarmo manages to be obnoxious slob, who with out remorse cheats money out from people. And he's proud of his penny scams as well.

What astonished me was, that even though the film is named, and I translate, "Uuno Turhapuros Brother", Tarmo actually has very little screen time or actually anything really sensible or funny to do in the story. With an exception of the endings deus ex machina moment.

Rest of the film is a bunch of stale jokes, which are with out any doubt gathered together from the leftover pieces from previous movies of the series.

In a word, this film is bad, and even some of the most hardcore fans of Uuno gladly acknowledge the case.
