Nemmeno il destino (2004)

Review by Spuzzlightyear

Nemmeno il destino

7/10

The Other Italy..

Changing Destiny is a surprisingly taut Italian drama about 3 kids whose lives change in many different ways after they drift apart, sometimes forcefully, sometimes voluntarily.Allesandro, Ferdi and Toni are 3 school pals who'd rather goof off with each other then hang around in school. Soon, one of the kids leaves for greener pastures, leaving the other 2 to do some serious brooding and soul searching. It doesn't help when one of them has a seriously alcoholic Dad and the other a Mother who is quickly slipping into Dementia. Both of them, rather then somewhat reaching into each other, since the two are remarkably the same, deal with their problems rather internally, which thus leads to their downfall, one more drastic then the other. Full of dynamite acting with a cast of unknowns, Changing Destiny deserves to be seen as a startling countershot of all them preposterously Rich Italian movies.
