Stump the Schwab

A Brain- Twister

"Stump the Schwab" is an awesome show on ESPN or ESPN2. Howie Schwab is as they call him "The Sultan of Sports Trivia." He is a god of all sports trivia. Stuart Scott hosts the show where there are three contestants that vie for the chance to eventually face "The Schwab" in a 1-on-1 showdown. The show starts off with a game where there's a topic (say NBA MVPs in the last 20 years) and the three contestants and "The Schwab" each get a chance to give an answer once at a time and it goes around until all answers have been given or all contestants have been eliminated for giving a wrong answer. Then the "weakest link" is eliminated and there are now two contestants. Then they just go head-to-head by themselves. The "weakest link" is eliminated and the winner faces "The Schwab." The final round consists of four categories with 3 cards per category (1st card=1 point, 2nd card=2 points, 3rd card=3 points). The contestant and "The Schwab" pick cards for each other and they have to answer that question. If they don't get it right they get one (of three) strikes. They also have one pass. Mostly, you'll see a question asked, one of them will use their pass and then other will pass it right back. Anyway, at the end, whoever has the most points, wins. Out of probably 15-20 episodes of this show I've seen, "The Schwab" has lost only about twice, I think. He's the MAN! The show is also peppered with the sarcastic remarks of Stuart Scott. He's a very funny man and I enjoy hearing him talk, especially on this show. "The Schwab" will occasionally add in his own wisecrack, but for the most part he is pretty subdued. I just really enjoy this show.
