Supreme Models (2022)

Supreme Models

10/10

Beautiful yet Sad

The stories of the pioneers were.fascinating.

It also saddened me to hear stories of the response to discrimination. You have another culture that has built up their own institutions and you have these stunning, brilliant Black women begging for inclusion. It seems so odd.

They are proving they can sell yet they don't take it a step further to build their own. It is sad to think that after all the breakthroughs and wealth acquired that collectively they could not pool together enough resources to create their own magazines, agencies and shows rather than being at the whim of others who not are honestly NOT obligated to include them at all.

I got excited when I heard talk of the Coalition but alas it seems that it was ineffectual because with the strides came backlash where Whites get tired of being inclusive. It can happen at any moment. Hardison is a warrior but she can't do everything on her own.

Those Ebony Fashion Fair shows were incredible. Didn't they have the example of Eunice Johnson? I have no idea why they stopped in 2009 and then these women are right back where they started from and thinking that employing 5 or 6 models is progress.

Looks like Rihanna has the vision to make this a reality. I hope they can muster the support for her to make real and permanent institutions that allow them to thrive in their chosen professions. I get it they just want to perform but obviously you have to learn the business side as well.
