Mammootty, Jagathy Sreekumar, Mukesh, and Parvathi in Jagratha (1989)

Review by thannytommy

Jagratha

8/10

Another murder mystery means another case for Sethuramaiyer

Following the smash hit 'Oru CBI Diary Kurrippu', 'Jagratha' brought back the famed Sethuramaiyer(Mammootty)to the silver screen! The murder victim here is an upcoming celebrity actress! Iyer and his team have their work cut out with the local police giving them a torrid time in their investigations. Can they handle the pressure to unearth the real criminal ?

Overall, the movie pales in comparison with respect to the original. The novelty of an investigative crime fighter while still attractive has not been used to full effect by the Director. That said, the storyline still holds it's own. The presence of certain characters from the previous movie helps in creating a few comic moments. Definitely watchable but like most sequels, not as worthy as the original.
