Another person commented asking if you needed to know the Minneapolis punk scene to understand the movie, not really but it makes it all the more beautiful and painful. I used to live in Minneapolis (Minnehopeless). The restaurant they eat at was outside my apartment window. The music for the movie was done by Chan Poling from one of the great Minneapolis bands The Suburbs. I first saw this movie on Sundance Channel and have tried to find a copy on VHS or DVD since then. I have a really bad copy from cable. Everyone I've shown this to loves it and not just people who live in or used to live in Minneapolis. Anyone who has been through the dying of a music scene or freak scene or just the dying of a dream will get this movie. I want to see more from these people and I want to see a great DVD with a commentary track. :)
