I get it make for "great" tv and draws in attention, but constantly giving Alexis Neiers and Nick Prugo a platform to brag about being one of the cool kids is not a good look. This series is nothing but a "look what we did" piece that glamorizes burglary mainly do to the people who were robbed. If they were robbing Z-Listers like Carrot Top and Danny Bonaduce literally no one would think twice.
Aside from the glamorizing this series does, it also likes to brag BIG TIME!!! There's a so-called real estate agent (I'm assuming) who starts the series off giving you a run down on LA neighborhoods and who lives in them. There's another woman explaining which big stars shopped where Nick and Alexis spent their stolen money. Basically, they were all living and hanging out in the same places as celebrities, just not at the same time. Which i guess is supposed to make simple-minded go, "OMG, you bought that dress at the same place Nicole Richie bought hers. Did you see her there?"
Nick and Alexis do plenty of bragging themselves. Alexis informs us she used to hang out on TV sets and in dressing rooms as a kid. Nick let's us know he was an Nickelodeon, as an extra on Zoey 101. Talking about the grueling drive he used to make to set, as if he was actually starring in the show. Even Alexis's mom gets in on the bragging by letting us know she started modeling at age 16, before name dropping everyone she modeled for. Big surprise she said Playboy.
There's even little info cards that pop-up everytime Nick and Alexis talk about a crime, which says the crime and the maximum jail sentence it carries. The only purpose to give cool points. Literally 17 minutes into the first episode, I had to turn this crap off.

This movie tried, but in the end just ended up failing. The writing is really bad. A lot of the dialogue is either pointless or just doesn't make sense. For example, after waking up in the middle of a cornfield with no idea of how he got there, one of the characters keeps making remarks along the lines of "Something isn't right here." Despite being in a "puzzle" and having to solve their way out, another character complains non-stop about following the clues they've been provided by saying they should just ignore them because they don't mean anything. Even though the ones they followed before gave them answers and helped them out. Pretty much all of the characters are stupidly annoying, and the movie ends with ZERO QUESTIONS ANSWERED! Literally nothing gets explained.
The idea of a Harry Potter trivia game show is an awesome idea. However, this is an AWFUL execution of said awesome idea.
They present the show as if the contestants are picked randomly from the audience, but it's clear that's not the case as the contestants already have name plaques on the podiums. Each question has 4 answer choices, presented very much like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. But every question's third or fourth answer is something completely stupid and meant to be funny, i.e. "What is Remus Lupin's Marauder's nickname?"; "Lupin-ator."
But my biggest turn off with this show is the way the contestants confer before answering each question. I understand as a team they're supposed to give only one answer, but they way they do it is very annoying. It's as if the producers told them to to show their work and explain how the came up with their answer, as if they doing a long division math problem. For example, one of the questions was who transfigured into a shark during the Triwizard Tournament. Instead of simply answering it, they go into an in-depth analysis in order to eliminate their choices. "Well sharks are strong manly forces and who's known for being manly? It must be Viktor Krum."
I'm not sure who's idea this was, but it's clear this was only made to capitalize on the excitement of the upcoming reunion special.
