Yikes. Ok, I truly thought this was from 2002 or earlier, and would still maintain that belief were it not for the fact that discussion about the GSK puts it at least in 2018. It's those same 3-5 white dudes you've seen in every low-budget documentary from the last 20 years, but there's this weird #notallmen vibe to it which is absolutely bananas to witness. Victim blaming, overly empathizing with the murderer, every one is a "prostitute" It's not 100% trash. It's tons and tons of original footage, they do a good job of name-checking the victims, but "50% of serial killers are black/POC" whatever they claimed with no citation whatsoever is beyond the pale. At least pretend to do the leg work, boys!

Wow this was just lousy. I went in thinking it was going to be like the BSU/Mindhunter John Douglas et al stuff, but holy cow it was a new level of shallow.

Almost everyone looked incredibly uncomfortable and self conscious on camera, it was overproduced within an inch of its life, it sounded horribly scripted, but all of that would be forgivable if they did any kind of deep dive into a single interesting fact. Like, really, y'all are grad students studying this stuff and your conclusion is "oh he killed because he likes to be in control of hmmmmm wow we are really breaking new ground with this one" Furious I wasted an hour and furious it made me so furious I wasted 10 more min writing this.

I have never agreed with every criticism of a movie and said "yeah I know it's great tho right?" Yes it was too long by like 80 min. Yes it was so so slow and weird and nonsensical.

It's such an intentionally made film. I truly feel that the writer/director showed us the exact images in their head. This is what my nightmares look like.

I was tense for the entire time even though there is virtually no action or plot, it's truly a vibes film that isn't for everyone.

There were moments that I found deeply and fundamentally scared. Outstanding movie.

If you're into Lynch's work this should be up your alley.
