It's not even the worst that the movie only consists of nonsensical needless gore without any sense or context. You could rather watch a local butcher do his job in your hometown and it would acquire the same excitement.
The worst are the actors (excluding the clown, that actor did a fabulous job), the poor dialogues ("why are you not listening me and blaming me?!" - "because!" ???) and the unnecessary long scenes. Every single scene could've been cut by a few seconds or even minutes and then, maybe, the movie wouldnt give you the same feeling as watching your boomer mother searching for the space bar on the computer keyboard. Maybe, and only maybe, then the movie would've had a chance to build the slightest tension that otherwise you were searching for unsuccessfully.
We finally walked out of the cinema when after 40 minutes the plot (and the gore/splatter) still hadn't really developed but instead only some school children and a clown had played with an already dead opposum and its rotten maggot infested insides for over 10 minutes straight.
Save your money and your time, this movie ain't worth it.

What I do want to critic is the usual stereotypical and archetypical fears that are perpetrated by this movie: the stereotype of the stranger woman from another country, another continent, another culture and skin color is to be feared for she could be unpredictable, dangerous and crazy, the stereotypical notion that Africans suspectably rather seek help in voodoo and witchcraft than mental health which makes them even more to be feared and ostracized and the stereotype of mentally ill people that they as well are not just suffering but again unstable, impulsive, unpredictable and foremost violent. None of this is true of course but it's just another movie that cements these kind of stereotypes, which I do find very problematic.
Nonethess absolutely do watch the movie because Anna Diop gives, in my opinion, an Oscar worthy performance and outshined everyone else in this movie.
The ending of the movie gives it a well rounded well needed close.
It's absolutely not a real horror movie but rather a thriller drama. I love this movie and absolutely recommend to watch it.

Don't listen to the overall rating of 6.5 the movie deserves so much more.
The movies is brutally thrilling and captivating, at the same time playing a psychological mind game. I was at the edge of my seat until the end. Throughout the movie there were several small plot twists.
10/10 can recommend.
